Hello Everyone
I was thinking of how to make guests management more involved besides more buildings and other than restrooms and cleaning facilities. So it took me some to think and develop on this but I think this could work in the Jurassic World Evolution formula.
THE MEDIA MANAGEMENT PAGE
The page is to deliver a unique set of options for players that would like to be more involved. The idea started when we do not have the ability to select a single guest and read their info. So I decided to make this focus on an already existing medium where everyone forms into a large mass of communication, opportunity, and entertainment: The Internet!
In our current smartphone generation, we have a tendency to use our phones to communicate with each other in large parties that were otherwise impossible in the past. So I thought of dividing some core smartphone interests into criterias that the player could utilize in their parks. Which are:
• Jurassic Monthly: a photo based page to earn ratings and attendance for your park.
• Island News: a page that archives the players major actions and events on an island.
• Weather Forecast: a page to help predict upcoming weather.
• Guest Reception: See live comments of your guests in your parks for feedback.
• Sponsors: A new management page to make contracts with other companies to promote your park or get better income.
So here is what each page focuses on.
• JURASSIC MONTHLY •
Jurassic monthly is a photo centered page that promotes players to take photographs of specific dinosaurs for cash prizes and to get their dinosaurs trending on social media. This will allow for unique time based events separate from the division missions to garner more guests, park ratings, and a bit of cash into their parks. Especially helpful if they started a new park in challenge mode.
So you are playing in your park and got a notification of a new jurassic monthly competition. You click to open your media management page and see that the competition are on "Gentle Giants", where giant sauropods are being appreciated in the duration of this month. Since you recently got the brachiosaurus hatched into your park, you get into your ranger vehicle and race of to her exhibit to get the perfect shot. If you took a great shot, a message would pop us saying if you want to submit this photo to the Jurassic Monthly competition. When you say yes, the game will display your picture in the competition tab for a set duration. First, you would get a good cash prize depending on the quality of the photo, and it will be greater than that of taking standard photographs. Secondly, during the duration that photo is up, the brachiosaurus is now a trending dinosaur, and all brachiosaurus in your park will a gain 40% boost to the base rating until the end of the competition's duration, to which the next Jurassic monthly competition will begin.
This page will act as a means of opportunity for players struggling with money and a fun side activity of photography that delivers more than a cash prize. The competition would be based on dinosaur families, ecosystems, 2 species in the same photo, or a specific dinosaur in mind. The difficulty will vary, and the more difficult the photo is the higher the base rating boost your dinosaur would get.
• ISLAND NEWS •
This is a rather basic but useful page for your park. It archives what has happened on your island. So you could keep count on stuff like:
• New species introduced to the park
• New star rating
• Jurassic Monthly competitions won
• Tornado attacks
• Guest fatalities in a time period
• 5 starring guest/dinosaur needs
• New research made
This is a means to help players see what they could accomplish in a set time, and observe where they were successful or where they were failing. How long it takes to succeed in certain areas, and a means for players to remember what happened the last time they were playing in the park after they left the area for so long.
• WEATHER FORECAST •
Here is a simple concept, it is not a priority page but it is useful. This page will display the weather for the next 3 sessions in your park. It will allow players to prioritize what to build first and prepare themselves for any incoming storms.
The page will not be available from the start, it will be locked until you build a storm defense station. Upon building a storm defense station, the page will show you 5 boxes, the far left is the session the island is in, where the ones later will showcase the weather that will soon follow. The last two are locked boxes.
The weather options available are:
• Clear skies
• Rain
• Light Storm
• Heavy Storms, which could be either long storms or tornadoes, it could not tell which just yet.
This is great to predict the weather in the game, and to make things more interesting: The advanced storm station will upgrade this page. So if you decide to build an advanced storm station in your park, your page will now show all 5 weather sessions in your park as the last two locked boxes are now unlocked. And as an added bonus, it will be able to determine if your heavy storm will be a heavy storm, or a tornado attack. I decided to make the page like this so we could have an added need for the advanced storm station in our parks besides the added protection in the small radius it provides us with.
• GUEST RECEPTION •
Guests now have a voice in the game! Though you could not select a guest individually, you could go over the social medias and gather your guests many comments on your parks. It will be simplified to 4 comments on the page that will keep changing based on the feedback of your guests. These comments cover 4 areas:
The Dinosaurs
Your guests will comment on the dinosaurs of your park. You could get an idea of what your park is lacking based on the number of dinosaurs, the variety of dinosaurs, the most popular dinosaurs, the health of your dinosaurs, recent breakouts, fights, and any recent engagement your dinosaurs take in like socializing, herding, grazing, territory and so on and so forth.
Along the lines, you could start your park and get feedback like :"Aren't dinosaurs meant to be...big lol" if you do not have any large carnivores or sauropods in your park. Or nods like "I WANT A NODOSAURUS, cute chunky bois! ♥" as a nod to actual fan feedback to the game.
Guest Needs
This is basically what it is. An indicator to how guests are enjoying themselves or point to certain areas that needs improvements like "This gigantosteak is such a steal!" if you are not placing a good price on your restaurants, or "I'm bored" if there is not enough entertainment buildings, or "my feet hurt" if there is a lack of transportation options.
Security
A nice hint on security improvements is to see what they guest are experiencing and taking their words as a hint. Such hints could be "I am surprised the velociraptor is behind light fence" if the fences for dinosaurs could be upgraded, or "I don't feel safe around ALS-001" if there is no shelters near the allosaurus in your park. These are not mandatory to follow but could help players figure out what needs to be improved on.
Fun
Lets be honest, people are very weird creatures. This should mainly center on fun lines the devs could put in that are funny, random, or easter eggs. Like you could see a message "they do move in herds" or "ALAN
", or "Wasn't that jeep from 1993, sooo nostalgic
" if the player uses the classic jeep in their parks.
• SPONSORS •
Finally, I want to include a sponsors page in the media management tab. This is a billion dollar industry, so why not include the chance to create contracts with companies for their help?
So when choosing a company, I think it is best to balance out between overall fame, money income, and their effectiveness depending on the money. Like barbasol could be a sponsor of your park, being sponsored by barbasol will help you earn twice the amount of money, but your required dinosaur ratings will be raised as well. So you could start a park to not get bankrupt early on with this, but it will take a good while before you earn your star rating.
Or it could be verizon, a company that will help you get more people into your park, but will charge you a percentage of your income.
These contracts are a give and take option for players. You could play the game the whole way through without needing to touch a contract, or add a sense of customizable difficulty for your playthrough of this park. There should also be sponsorships that are set in a duration of years, so that it could be easy to get in, but hard to get out of. And canceling the contract midway will make your ex company take a sum of money they were promised when setting the contract.
Overall this is what I have in mind for the media management tab. I want something like this implemented into the game so that we may have added management, a way to communicate to our guests, and to feel like jurassic world is part of the business industry and not an isolated island. All of these are optional pages which won't hinder the gameplay as far as I could theorize, but I do hope it could provide with a lot of fun.
Please let me know what you all think of this. It took me a while but I hope we could see something like this in the game soon. It was a lot of fun brainstorming this idea, and I hope the idea entertained you too. Thanks for reading!
Kind regards,
