I'm not expecting that either and neither do I want that. I suspect it will a bit more personal and I'm fine with that.No I don't. But I bet it won't be anything like a Battlefield experience.

You, and those who went before, the offliners, the OSten and the ElADS who went into the black and did not return.I think we're the ghosts in that story.![]()
Here's to absent friends. You, and those who went before, the offliners, the OSten and the ElADS who went into the black and did not return.
Of course FPS is a very crowded market. Frontier had a shot with CQC, I wonder what will be different and better than the herd in their implementation of a first person shooter this time?
Ha haa, I know what you mean. A YouTube or Netflix popup screen in VR would be a good addition for something to do during long distance travel.Source: https://media.giphy.com/media/Ow59c0pwTPruU/giphy.gif
The Index is very comfortable. I can practically don it on and off like a baseball cap. And as much as I am ashamed to admit, I did fell asleep in VR more than a few times getting bored to death on long supercruise boredom highways in Elite while playing late at night![]()

I managed almost a 6 hour wing session in VR last night, but I was definitely ready to remove the headset by then. Plus it was 2am.
FPS is just not what Elite is all about. I'm staggered frankly.Maybe they just caved into the people looking at Star Citizen and demanding the same. Lawd knows why though.![]()

i feel like the potential of this thread, has been kind of, sort of ruined. it feels like we could have gotten way more bits of info about what the actual content of the expansion is going to be, if we were asking devs the right questions, instead of going on in circles about the same one or two topics. and with that said, here is my happy contribution.
here are some of the questions that i have for the DEVs. if any of these can be answered, i'll be satisfied:
and that about does it. i'll add more questions later, if i think of any.
- anything new about Gas Giants and Water Worlds in Odyssey ?
- Are the new planetary tech and visual improvements included in horizons too? for those who dont want to stretch a leg ?
- has there been an improvement or overhaul to the networking system ?
- in addition to the "social hubs", does normal stations and settlements allow for exploration on foot aswell ?
- does odyssey contain some form of story progression ? because the title seems to hint at that.
- can we walk inside our ship interriors ?
- any new ships or new SRVs ? you dont have to specify wich ones, just if any new ones are coming.
- is raxxla in odyssey? (had to take my chance)

If done right it will be awesome...there is no reason to not have more ways to explore and experience the universe. But if it just ends up being another match making combat thing...then nope.
I salute your optimism, some of these questions have threads dedicated to them and Frontier have remained (for the moment) silent.i feel like the potential of this thread, has been kind of, sort of ruined. it feels like we could have gotten way more bits of info about what the actual content of the expansion is going to be, if we were asking devs the right questions, instead of going on in circles about the same one or two topics. and with that said, here is my happy contribution.

These questions have been asked, but you did a good job summarizing them.
I'd like to add at least one more which has also been asked:
- Do you have an ETA after launch when VR will be available for Odyssey or can you confirm that it will at least eventually be available?
It doesnt need to be better then a dedicated FPS as ED wont be a dedicated FPS.Of course FPS is a very crowded market. Frontier had a shot with CQC, I wonder what will be different and better than the herd in their implementation of a first person shooter this time?
Imo "if done right" here means scenes from 1st Alien movie as they are investigating the Space Jockey. Or scenes from Prometheus before things start going wrong.
Imo " if done right" here does NOT mean running around with assault rifle and going pew pew pew. Latter doesn't feel interesting enough in my books. Doens't fit the game.
Walk freely around your own ships. Meet other players in space stations. That sort of thing sounds more important than killing stuff.
On personal level, none of the above matters in any way tho: stuff that don't suport VR isn't on my radar in any way and will never get a single dollar of my money.
