ANNOUNCEMENT Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Announcement

I would like to see missions where you have to use a small, cool-running ship to get as close as possible to an installation without being noticed, then being forced to go on foot to infiltrate the base (basically the same as data infiltration). Maybe with a nice little minigame to boot...

Any other ideas what could be done with planet legs?

Edit: I prefer to write "DLC" instead of "Odyssey," as that is one of the few words that give me fits trying to spell it. Don't ask me why...

And as we are at figures: FD don't get a cent for supporting VR in their games.
They've made a few cents from me. I would have grown bored with ED months ago without VR, and I'm pretty sure I bought some Arx after being "born again" (the day I got my VR headset).

But on the other hand, I don't need VR to enjoy a game. Currently my headset is in the closet and my Krait Phantom is drifting empty somewhere outside the Bubble for about a month now. Even with VR I have grown bored with ED, especially since leaving the Bubble and spending most of my time looking at the 2D FSS or NDE tunnel load screen. The promise of new content has me hopeful, even if it doesn't support VR. Don't get me wrong, I do hope at least the piloting aspects of Odyssey will support VR out of the gate, but I'm not part of the #NoVRnoBuy crowd.

No one is saying that (afaik).
I don't know how many ED players bought it for VR, or how many ED players with VR no longer play but we're waiting for the new DLC to drop to then jump in and buy it (this is the number that even FD may not know...... I know 3 of my gaming mates who played ed in VR who dropped ED around the time beyond was announced - with the plan to come back for the improved end of beyond planet tech at end of 2018.
They have not played for literally years but were fully committed to buy the next DLC to play in VR. They could be a tiny number but I am hoping they are more than that.
I CAN tell you this with certainty..... The percentage of ED players with VR is FAR FAR higher than the percentage of steam users as a whole with VR..... I don't know the percentage of PC ED players with VR but it would not surprise me 1 bit if 50% of PCVR owners owned ED.

For an indie title like ED that is a.potentially significant number of sales. If even 300,000 PCVR owners would buy the DLC that is not chump change money for ED.
I agree, I post here about my disappointment but I play with four other players, all with VR that aren't on these forums. You can guarantee there are many more disappointed VR players out there that are not in this forum or voting in a petition.

Not surprisingly, Frontier are not advertising, at the moment, that VR is not being supported in Odyssey at launch, so for those who use VR but don't do social communities, this may well become an unpleasant surprise further down the line.

The gamble FD may be banking on is that VR players buy it anyway assuming VR patch will come later OR buy in ignorance not knowing VR has been removed.
Does anyone know steam refund policy for DLC? Base games you get 2 weeks and 2 hrs playtime to refund however a game account with 100s of hrs play am not sure if a dlc would automatically fall could of playtime clause for getting a refund once vr players realise they are not supported.

I've learnt my lesson in purchasing games that use future developments alongside present realities in their marketing.
Me too. It took me a few mistakes to do it but from now on I want solid commitments or actually supported features I can see. Of course for this instance that would not help me. ED was fully supportive of VR... Until it wasn't.
Makes a mockery of self publishing to allow them to do the niche things that a big publishing house would.never have allowed.
