Dont feel bad, one time while attempting to switch to my corvette i bought a new corvette instead and didnt realize. Then freaked out because i thought i lost all my engineering and skins and $100+ mil mysteriously and opened a support ticket.
And then after making a ticket and posting about it publicly on here. I then went to switch to one of my other combat ships while i waited for the ticket response.

Step 1: intentionally blow up your own ship.
Step 2: when asked "would you like your ship back?" say "No thanks.".
Step 3: Wonder where you ship is.
Then again, blessed is he who reserves his comical blunders for computer games and other trivial matters. Not a fan of god-modding in general, but I don't really gain any joy out of OP not having his old Asp back. If it really means a lot to him I hope they just give it back and pretend it never happened.

But as somebody who flew to Sag A* and back via Colonia in a 20ly range Lakon that only had a three jump fuel tank I would feel a little miffed if they didn't put you right back where you suicidewindered.

I did Sag A* in a 20ly Sidewinder (2 Jump tank)... took 10hrs to get there (and 10 to get back).
Whats the point in going in the first place, if you suicide to get back quickly?
There are a number of points - There's a "trophy" on PS for doing it, but they don't take it off you for not making the long trek home.
There's bragging rights, of course.
There's exploration data and the huge increase in exploration rank (if you don't suicide, of course, haha) if you spend a couple of weeks mapping and tagging. I earned half a billion tagging on my visit.
There's even a thread on this forum where you can register the achievement to gain the kudos of your peers. (I didn't know it existed when I did it, so my photos didn't qualify as proof)
I understand why it's done. It's a tick in a box, at the end of the day.
Try it with support, as you propably wouldn't have done it if you'd known the consequences.
That said, consequences are good. You learn from them.

In fairness, the OP wanted to cut corners because they read it on the internet, but didn't bother to follow the process properly, then after ignoring all warnings the game does give you posts here in DD whether it's a bug.
