Game Discussions Microsoft Flight Simulator

The only thing that will let me down is my connection to t'interweb...16Mbps down and 8 up. There's no other option for me since it's the only net connection available up here.

This does look nice in the trailers. But, then again, so did "watchdogs".

That said. I have a fairly modest gaming PC and I do wonder if it will run this sim at all well. It might turn out that this level of visual fidelity can only be achieved with a PC costing as much as a small car... At which point people will be disappointed that their PC cannot do it and either claim it has rubbish performance (which would be true from their point-of-view) or claim it "looks like crud" because it doesn't live up to their expectations.

MS published system requirements, and there is nothing unusual in it. Just like for any AAA game you need beefy GPU to max it out just like any other game.
I guess, as usual, volumetric effects such as fog and clouds will be taxing the system, not terrain LOD.

The only thing that will definitely won't let me down is the internet I have, 800Mbps down, 300 up. Otherwise I have 7700k, 1080ti (I wonder if the game will make use of the sizeable VRAM) and 16Gb RAM, overclocked and XMP'd, so I hope for decent performance at 1440p and 75hz...

Despite fantastic LOD, this game is designed to hold up well looking from the sky. And why waste resources on 'legs' when there is so much to achieve in simulating flight?
Sure I wish there would be a world driving simulator, but I don't get why people want too much from a game...

Um, Optimal, have you seen the pics of MFS from the ground yet?

Question. Have any of you guys catch anything about the radio?
I mean, it's gonna have proper MP so it has to have some sort of player comms.

But I really hope they are going to come up with something akin to actual radio frequencies. And I really hope they are thinking about a proper player ATC support as that was one of the most awesome experiences in FSX.
Modders have their back, here, I think (if they're going to allow that, which would be a tragic mistake if they didn't), but it would be really amazing to have this in-built in the game itself.

Does anybody know how much FS data (for e.g. textures & mesh) can be stored locally before the more detailed data is required to be downloaded? I am wondering if it would be worth to purchase a large ssd and dedicate it to FS for local storage so that the requirement to download more detailed level data is reduced. But I don't know if it is worth it or if it is even possible. Guess I have to wait till we get closer to release..

Nice, sure. Now bring ground level images from cities. One of the scenes that was shown featured a ferris wheel. It was a single slab of piece without its steel frame detailed. Vehicles drift on road and won't hold up on closer inspection.

Edit: here it is, screenshot from the feature discover series. Cropped is that you see the details in the port, mainly the ferris wheel... These won't hold up nicely up close.

IMHO expecting the same LOD in cities will lead to disappointment. Again, what we already have is fantastic, but let us be real with the expectations.

Just watching some single-pilot jet videos on You Tube.

First impression: Biz jet sales just might go down because MS Flight Sim is so good.

Second impression: I really do not want to get back in the airplane again, even if it's a nice game like this one seems it will be. Too. Much. Work.

I want a completely automated starship. With bathrooms. :)

GT is the only reason I get a Playstation. No other game matters

I was a huge fan between GT2 and GT5, with GT6 they and PlayStation lost me for good.

I've seen the latest trailer, and while at times it looks great (especially the menu echoing GT2), it just doesn't look like a game changer. Sounds are still flat with no extra layers (exhaust cracks, transmission sounds, etc.), suspension shot shows that it is not moving, no weather or day/night cycles - GT5 trailer looks more advanced by comparison.

And obviously no return to the roots of the series that is driving everyday cars - only sports/exotic cars, race cars and priceless classics.

Yup my enthusiasm is waning a lot, conversely Project cars 3 which initially disapointed me as I'm more a hardcore simmer could fill the void nicely with a mix of sim/simcade (god I hate that term tho!!).
