Fleet Carriers Update patch 1 - Downtime and patch notes

Well, chose the wrong one. Result: Mauve Adder and three finger solute, entire home network knocked off-line requiring full cable modem and router reboot. Nice.
...
Wow! That would be something special if Frontier can do that... I suppose there is no possibility that your home network crashed and caused a Mauve Adder... No, of course not... That would make sense...

OK, can someone please translate for me? I'm none to awake at the moment.

Triple LTD hotspots are not going to be a thing anymore?

Apologies for the densitude of this post!
They will still be a thing, each individual hotspot will not provide more stuff at the outer edge than the centre anymore. This only applies to LTDs other hotspots aren't affected.

Additionaly when they increased output from subsurface displacement mining they over did it so they have reduced that back down somewhat.

I can't buy any limpets on my carrier anymore. "Insufficient Credits".
  • Undocked, jumped out, jumped in, docked.
  • Relogged.
  • Restarted game.
  • Checked budget.
  • Removed limpet controllers. Added limpet controllers.
  • Changed mode.
  • Changed quantity and price of buying commodities.
  • Changed Tariff.
  • Changed weekly upkeep allocation.
  • Changed carrier livery (that had reset).
Nothing else I could think of. Still not working.

I find the glee & congratulations on the nerf coming from those who already made their carrier £$£ from easy 'old' Borann to be somewhat disgusting.

You'd not be so happy if they took YOUR outragous money back .
Not everyone who is happy about an attempt at bringing some sanity to earnings has a fleet carrier or the credits to get one.

They haven't taken anyone's outrageous money back they have merely made it take somewhat longer to acquire an outrageous amount.

They've nerfed everything we love and enjoy about this game.

As a combat player, I demand pay equity! I mine because I'd go broke playing combat. and powerplay costs more than it pays and so does BGS. I go mining so I can afford to play the game the way I like it.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Genuine question why are you going broke playing combat?
Bounties and bonds all pay more than your ammo and fuel costs.

Serious feedback, no knee jerk. Mostly for FDev's eyes/ears.

Sub surface LTD was obviously paying way too much. No harm at all in nerfing it. I've felt similarly about past nerfs, but we'll get there in a minute.

I was in the bubble, cleaning up the mess left by the BGS bug that saw several of our systems get way out of balance. I decided to take a cruise out here to COL 285 to take a look at the changes in mining.

Dropped into the center of the middle hotspot, which is overlapped by two others, so should be the highest yield in the game according to this post. Took me 14 minutes and 30 prospectors to find my ONE asteroid with a sub surface LTD deposit. By comparison last week I was only carrying 110 limpets per run and I was dumping 10-30 of them. (282t total for me).

So I started working on my first deposit and RIGHT AWAY I have a chunk spawn under the surface of the asteroid (which you claimed to have fixed) and there goes all of my collector limpets. I started with 210(brought extra because of the changes) and now I'm down to 151 between the 30 I spent prospecting and then all that got killed while trying to collect the 15t of LTD that I got out of this rock. 59 TONS of limpets to get 15t of LTD. (I run 9 limpets at a time for reference).

I agree that some balance needed to happen, but this doesn't feel very good. First FDev, you NEED to fix the bugs. Limpets getting killed because I do something stupid is great gameplay. Limpets getting killed because YOU did something stupid is awful. Stop chunks from spawning under the surface of asteroids. Also you need to figure out a way for me to find sub surface deposits without spending dozens and dozens of limpets. I don't mind some gameplay behind finding them, but using the pulse scanner and finding no LTD with my prospectors isn't rewarding.

The sub surface mining, and core mining, are both awesome. Really good refinements to the mining system, I don't think you get enough credit for refreshing mining and making it way better. The exploration enhancements are also fantastic, but I won't get too deep into that. Refinements like that would be appreciated all across the game. However, these new mini-games take time and skill and often the rewards are not properly balanced. Note that I'm not talking about the credits per hour. I'm saying when you put the time and energy into making these fun activities, and then I choose to go laser mining because it's more efficient, that's a problem. Last week was awesome because I like the sub surface missiles AND I was getting more LTD than my friends who were laser mining at the time. Core mining is another area where I spend a lot of time placing charges, watching the boom, and then all my limpets die. I mean, that's part of the equation in my head... It goes like this "OOOh core, I like the boom. But I'll only get 20t of LTD and I'll lose at least 10 limpets, maybe more. I don't have all that many limpets left, and it'll take 5-10 minutes... But the boom is cool......... Hmmmm. Na, I'll skip it." I don't think you want players having that thought pattern.

Throughout the history of the game I haven't observed many "balance passes" that were subtle and successful IMO. Sothis long haul poop was my first gold rush in 2016. When the nerf bat finally came it no longer made sense to do those missions AT ALL. So it wasn't a gentle balance pass, it destroyed that passtime. When I got good enough at combat I found my way to 17 Draconis and massacre mission stacking. I was late for skimmers, and that was probably an "exploit" in the correct way that word should be used. You made several changes up there and now, 17 Draconis is no longer a thing. I don't have it bookmarked, I don't check its state, I can't tell you the last time I was there. Planetary Scan Jobs in Quince, stacking and scanning one point for 20 missions was obviously not working as intended. But when the nerf bat came out there it also destroyed Quince. That system means nothing now. I think stacking 20 missions and flying to 20 different buildings to scan would have been an acceptable fix, but that isn't the fix that we got. We got separate buildings AND we could only take 3 at once. I say this in hopes that you can re-evaluate how you do balancing. Maybe swing the nerf bat just a little less forcefully. Keep these activities relevant while bringing their income more in line with what your vision for the game is.

I'm likely going back to laser mining for LTD. Which is what really drove me to type this up. I like the sub surface missiles, a lot. I wish the game would reward me for the time and skill it takes to use them. And PLEASE stop chunks from spawning inside the asteroid and killing all of my limpets. OR maybe it's easier to make the limpets a little smarter so they don't suicide themselves by trying to get chunks that they can't reach, that's fine too.

Thanks for your time.

BTW Multicrew results always in:
20200617155823_1.jpg

If Crewmember launches fighter he gets disconnect (wasnt that marked as fixed in the other patchnotes?)
CZ stop spwaning enemys if Multicrew is on (still not fixed)
and so on, so u guys fixed nothing and just wrote it as fixed in the patchnotes and hoped that noone ever will find out.

Just want to add my voice to that of others here with reference to the mining being nerfed by 25%. I have also been one of the many doing a bit of mining during this brief period and I have to say I am disappointed Frontier have decided to implement this fix. I would have liked to have seen all other professions to be brought up to the level of income that mining has been producing recently. I have not seen so many players in local chat as I have of late the game has come alive. All bug fixes and improvements to the game are welcome but slowing down player progression, not so.
If everything was paying out at about the same levels as mining there is no way ship costs and other expenses shouldn't rise proportionately.

Ummm sure, it coincidentally crashed at the exact millisecond I attempted to dock to one of my duplicated FC's but it was unrelated to the game software. In addition, the fact I have not had a crash like that in many months and my PC diagnostics assigns cause to failed ED module is also irrelevant. And it has done that twice now when docking to the first FC on the list and never when docking to the second on the list is irrelevant too. Well, OK , if you think so have at it.

And the pic below REMAINS the state of things in every system I go to:
Edit: I'm not dissing on Fdev I am just stating the facts so they can get it fixed - so relax and take a deep breath.

If that's the way you've been doing it, you're doing it wrong. The sweet spot isn't the center of the middle hotspot, because it's offset compared to the other two. This diagram shows why.. (despite the hotspot edge-nerfing, the same principle still applies)

Exploration is not fine. Please don't spread that narrative. Or else we'll end up with exactly what we have now but with the addition to walk on planets next update. Exploration is full, repetitive and not rewarding (I'm not talking about credits earned here).

Paint Job on the Fleet Carrier Keeps Being Removed. I have went into the the game and into the FC Livery and the paint job is not the one that I selected, it is checked but wrong color. I select the color that I want and it changes. I quit to desktop and log back in and it paint job changes in the FC livery to something else, still the paint job that I wanted is checked but not displaying.

And this is why I'm hoping for Frontiers bankruptcy at this point. They are a cancer in the game development industry that needs to be cut away. People need to stop giving them money to produce junk.

Of course I know that's a pipe dream, all they have to do is flash something fancy like a spacelegs video and people throw money at them, even though the update will likely have no substance and be very badly coded.
Yes things shouldn't go wrong as much as they do.

Wishing the game that so many of the rest of us enjoy be shut down because the developers are imperfect is nasty.
