Did anyone experience the below bugs today?

  • You get dropped random amount of LS from the station instead of in front of it when dropping from Supercruise (my FC is parked 25 LS from the station, I fly from it to the station and after Safe Disengage Ready message my ship was dropped 44 LS from the station for example - so I had to fly there again and almost twice the distance... then it happened again)
  • Target changes randomly, either mid-SC flight out of the blue or after jumping into SC from the station (I have my own FC selected as a target when leaving the station, but after entering SC the target changes to a random FC of someone else - this happened 100% of times actually - and with so many FC's in the system it's really tedious to keep trying to find your own FC on the list all the time)
  • Very long transitions into SC with only couple of other Cmdr's out there
  • Random "Ship under attack" messages during those transitions? (The game then crashed - luckily I guess...)
  • Random disconnections with Orange Sidewinder error

Those were happening to me on a regular basis tonight. It's quite unplayable with all those. Actually literally unplayable now, as I can't even connect to the game anymore with the Orange Sidewinder error every time I try to enter the game, regardless of mode.

It's not how I imagined the return of Community Goals to be honest... :(

Server over load issue... just because you are not seeing a thousand ships in your system does not mean there are not to many cargo ships all trying to create a instance at the same time...
Yours completes many others get stuck at Zeros as the servers try to create a super cruse instance for them... when it boots people due to time out youll get an error ship name come up...
This will be worse with the more popular CG...

Yep This issue comes and goes away randomly... it drops your target every time you jump to super cruse...
My solution is to Bookmark the FC and edit the bookmark so FC is First bookmark in galaxy map using "....." in front.of the name..

All that has been reported for month in systems with large numbers of FC. Not sure why you thought the CG would prevent them happening 🤔

Edit: unless you thought no-one would bring their fc? :ROFLMAO:

I suppose rootsrat might have thought the devs would have fixed the problem(s) by now - poor deluded fool!

I had that one a couple of times before the Orange Sidewinders drove me away.

Frontier definitely should have blocked Fleet Carriers from entering the system! Not just from the loading times/crashes point of view, but also from the mass buying and selling point of view.

Edit - Especially in this system where the station is so far away from the jump in point. Anyone who has a carrier has a massive advantage over anyone who doesn't because they can just jump into the system next to the station and offload multiple ships, rather than having to spend 10 minutes in Super Cruise each time.

  • Random target changes: Yes, but that has happened before when doing operations for Ida back in June/July, so presumably connected to presence of multiple FCs
  • Very long transitions into SC: Yes, with only in two cases recovering, the other cases ended all with Orange Sidewinder error. Again, presumably high number of FCs, since I switched to a different account later on doing CZs where I experienced no problems at all.

I have not seen any other problems (yet?).

I think it was always like that...
Before carriers you had advantage with a Cutter, now with a FC...
And why shouldn't they have an advantage.
Better in game gear = better efficiency.

Unfortunately (regarding the stability/crashes) it's also like this with better hardware/I-net, you'll have an advantage.
Still, this is true since there is online gaming :)

That could easily be countered by just parking enough empty fleet carriers at the destination so that everyone has to cruise for 10 minutes.

While I understand what you're saying about the advantage I don't agree with it in the context of a 'community' goal ;) Though I will concede that you could say people filling up to sell to other Cmdrs to save them having to fly somewhere else is encouraging the community spirit, but the cynic in me thinks that number will be very small compared to those selling for themselves.

I don't agree with the internet one because this, like the engineer systems when Fleet Carriers were released, is about people being unable to enter/exit a system because of the number of Fleet Carriers not because they have ADSL rather than Fibre.

Not really sure I understand.

Not really sure I understand.
There are limited (16?) 'slots' for fleet carriers at each location in a system if all the 'slots' at that location are occupied then a new carrier can't arrive at that location, so fill up the 'slots' near to the destination station and the FC owners have to cruise as far as us mere ship owners.

I hear you :)
But if it really would be a "community goal" then there shouldn't be rankings and different payments dependend on contribution as this pokes competition ;)

What I wanted to say is: some can, others cant...
I dont know why this is as it is...
But it may be some kind of technical limitation somewhere at or between user and operator...

Well, hopefully this wasnt the last CG...
Let's see what FDev learns from this one :)

With the large disparity in SC distances for these two CGs, I rather suspect FDev is looking at this specifically as a test run for CGs in the carrier era. In particular, what I'd really hope to see with this one, would be carrier owners teaming up with groups of players to give rides to and from the station, and load/unload as a group. Could be similar to the carriers during the Eggsploit rush that were ferrying between the LTD3 system and the high-sell system of the day. Individual players filling up the system's slots loading/unloading their own carriers would really be a bit of a waste of the mechanic.
