Has anyone got any tips for building and flying blockade runners in Open? I’m thinking fast and light, unarmed, and taking roundabout supercruise course rather than direct. Is it just a case of submitting to interdictions and then running away until you can engage SC again?

The Type 7 is surprisingly nimble in SC, and if you are good you can win the interdiction against less-seasoned gankers. The T9, on the other hand...

What’s the best cheap and easy (minimal engineering needs) blockade runner? That might tempt me back into Open for a brief spell...
You want something that’s either very fast or very deadly so you can outrun or outshoot the interdictor, but getting either one cheaply with a worthwhile cargo capacity will be the problem.

If you got one during the recent discount a Clipper might work for you, I would also recommend an Orca with the biggest and best thrusters possible but that is going to cost you around 65 million which is only cheap compared to a Cutter.

The best is probably the imperial clipper. G5 DD/DD = 640 MS with 240 cargo.

Cheapest I'd say is imperial courier
With advanced performance thrusters alone it'll get up to 600 MS but only 30 cargo.

Not in the spoiler: Fruit & Veg at Hermaszewski Hub in Buzhang Ku - 3 million+ units available @ 223 cr /unit.
Only 3 jumps in a fully laden Cutter.

As a truly independent pilot I’ve never earned a single Imperial rank which rules out the rank-locked ships unfortunately.

The courier is very easy to unlock. There is a system where you can load up on courier missions back and forth to rank up very quickly. I'm at work atm so I can't remember the exact name of the place atm but it's pretty well known. If you wanted too you could unlock it in less than an hour. Alternatively youll have to engineer an orca. Most ganking ships can push around 520 so that's why I suggest a ship that can go at least 580

usually yes, unless you can beat the interdiction, but I never bother trying, takes too long. You can high wake and try again from different angle without the ganker on your tail the rest of the way. I usually do 4-5 low wakes then high wake as dont want to synth heatsinks but many people high wake straight away. Im just giving the ganker a chance not to be an idiot by chaining someone they obviously cant beat.....I have met one so far in game who has shown me that theyre not an idiot and gave up after 3 attempts so I know they are out there. YMMV

So in normal space you need approx 15s of life depending on skill to escape. That can be bought through Speed, Defences or Armour or a mix of all 3.

Point Defence & Heatsinks will stop a surprising number of Gankers. HRP & MRP will help with the sniping. Then its just ABC escape and evade.

80 megatonne cargo requirement, all in cheap bulk goods. The last CG pair got 30 megatonnes delivered in about two days, so this one probably stands a good chance of finishing.

I thought as much, thanks! I was just curious if it meant there was more to do to oppose the CG than interdicting deliveries, by indirectly manipulating the BGS state. A bit more depth to the game!
Primarily the BGS risk to trade CGs comes from the Lockdown state, which closes markets.

Those are hard enough to deliberately cause at the best of times - doing it while there's a simultaneous bounty hunting CG piling on positive security actions is likely impossible ... and in this case the goods chosen mean that cutting off the supply instead is even less practical.

But the disclaimer is always there in case someone figures out how :)

Thanks! Chaff and heat sinks to break target locks, light and fast... would you recommend smaller more frequent runs or a fast medium? I’m not bothered about bulk hauling, it’s more the challenge of evading rather than fighting; it’ll interest me more if evasion is the aim rather than an inconvenience.

This CG is damaging my immersion.

Why would refugees flee to a system with no habitable ELWs, to a station on the very outer edge of the system in orbit of a gas giant? Where are they going to use these emergency shelters, on the station's landing pads? Of all the systems in Federation space to flee to, this system is one of the worse.

At least Hutton Orbital has a mug. This system has nothing!
