ok, question, what is the 1 piece of kit you want?

I'm still using a 4:3 aspect ratio 21"

And I thought I was the only one!

For me right now, as my GTX480 seems to be working really well with the current graphics load, I'd like to get the CV1. Whether it'll be any good at powering the Rift I don't know so one purchase might mean two.

I would have wanted to go Haswell-E, but the gaming benchmarks are somewhat disappointing. I will await the next generation of CPU's. I would also like to go more than 2 way SLI/XFIRE as I have currently.

The current 980's hold little interest for me as Nvidia has once again done what they did with the GTX680's and released a mid end chip in a high end card.

It will not be long before we see "Big Maxwell" the true high end chip of this generation. It may be released as the 980Ti or possibly as a TITAN.

Nvidia may do what the did last time and place "Big Maxwell" in the next generation of cards which will probably have a completely new name as they have now run out of numbers. I cannot see them calling it the GTX1080.

Unreleased: CV1
Released: Bigger Monitor

Runner up: GTX 980

I have DK2, X55, nice chair setup (Ikea Poang) and R9 290 OC, but it can always be better.

I play with the Rift or the monitor, until I really get things down like menus and navigation and learning my X55 I have to spend more time on the monitor if I want to "advance". But eventually will probably just play in the Rift ... and with CV1 a 980 will be needed, or Xfire my 290, probably pretty cheap by that time and hopefully SLI/XF are more supported.

You have you machine going , the game is installed..
What upgrade/new part would really make you happy? -- JUST 1

In total seriousness - a broadband connection befitting 2014 (ie. at least 1Mb up/20Mb down). It is not going to happen without moving house or winning the lottery, though.

If I Sellotape all the shiny things together, does that count as one? I would love a Rift and a decent new PC, but my wife says stuff like food and heating are more important.....

I think I'm allowed to say, "Dream Machine" as, to date, don't have the kit to run the game, at all .. Realising the OP says "you have your machine going, the game is installed.." but it isn't!! (Do I win £5?)

Well, if you can't install it in the first place I guess you become exempt :)
To be fair, I think I'm pretty close to medium specs needed in most of my parts, but I play it pretty well even so.

Given the choice, the kit I want is use of my right side back, but sadly buying that in stores will not happen in my lifetime :)

What I want is an extension to my house that extends under the garden big enough for two rooms. One of those rooms will be my den. My special den. A den not for creepy stuff but for geeky stuff. Indeed, a den to make grown geeks green.

In that den I'd fit it out to have two main areas. A workstation area for general geeky stuff. And a much larger area converted into a starship bridge. It would have all the requisite stations and seating and the smoke and lighting effects would be fitted permanently.

In the helm position there would be three main screens as that area would double as the cockpit area for Elite: Dangerous sessions. When CV1 is released I'd use that.

All of it would be decorated in post 21st century non-white and shiny, more a little grey with a worn feel to it kind of vibe.

And I'd retire, happily living the dream.

I am thinking of the Edtracking (prebuilt) I can think of several uses for that is Stroke Rehab as well actually.

I am seriously considering a 4k monitor for christmas. Also being a star trek nut I would love to have a Majel BarrettIThe female computer voice in star trek) computer voice for voice attack but cant find one anywhere. Dont these people who make these voices realise how popular something like this would be.
