You can now link your Xbox account to EDSM.net to log your journeys!

Well I ran the console updater again yesterday, and left it running overnight and this morning it had completely updated to the 22nd June. Thanks to all the above CMDRs for their tips and advice. I got there in the end.
 
When I try to sign up so that my xbox can feed the database, I'm being asked for my credentials by what appears to Microsoft. I won't provide those because that would allow access to payment information like the Microsoft store has, and unauthorized payments could be made.

What's the solution for this?

EDSM won't have access to your Microsoft account or payment details; you'll be directed to the Frontier verification service which will allow EDSM access to the Elite Dangerous data it needs to update your EDSM profile
 
OK Frontier, you put me in a loop. I opened an issue and it came back with:

But that is where i started at when i submitted the ticket. So what or who to contact to get help?
 
Interesting, I tried to make bug reports in their jira and it only keeps saying I need to log in after I just logged in like three times ... So there's a loop there, too, or it's the same one.
 
Can someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? I deleted my account because it wasn't updating. I am trying to create an account and here's what happens.

I get a screen which states "Console player needs to use frontier Auth Service in order to update their data". I enter my email and commander name and hit register.

I then get a message stating "the two given tokens do not match". I hit register again.

I then get the Frontier Authentication screen where I select the Xbox logo. I enter my Frontier info.

I then get the message "The Frontier Auth Service responded with the following error: User not found (#access_denied)

If I go to the Frontier Portal and use the same credentials I used for the Frontier Authentication it logs me in.

I tried uploading photos of the screens on here, but when I attach a file, it uploads it then puts a line through the file name and won't show it.
 
I'm guessing that you need to provide the login credentials for your xbox account. And that is something I really don't want to do. It's probably not even allowed to give out that information.
 
@HouseForsaken That is almost the issue i am having when trying to connect to EDSM, and i can also log into portal with no issue. I see thsi when trying to get on EDSM:
No account found, please try to register again... (#3915413)
It looks like you are playing Elite Dangerous on Console, if you already have an EDSM account, enter the same email to link it to the Frontier Auth Service.

Of course i can't register again because it says my email is already in use or something like that.

When i am in the portal and choose authorized applications i get this:
We have encountered an error processing your request
But help is just a click away, here: Frontier Support

So i tried to open a ticket and I get the status invalid error, which you can see above in my message from last Monday, and told to open a ticket, which I already did, so no help there. I can log into INRA with no issue but no EDSM. It has been a few weeks now for me. I have been using EDSM for a while now since DW2, so don't know why frontier thinks i don't have an account.

Is that what the option to link an account in EDSM is supposed to mean? I've seen that option and have no idea what account I'm supposed to link and what it means. I don't give out login credentials of other accounts to accounts, and that option should be removed anyway.
 
OK, i am working now. I logged in using the frontier icon (I think that is is, the circle with a curved line in it), and i was able to log in, and was my xbox account (I had a PC one from a long time ago), but when I clicked on dashboard, i got this:

So I unlinked it, and scrolled down to the bottom of the unlink page, and clicked on login. Then it brought me back to the login page where I chose the xbox icon, and that worked, I got in and went right to the dashboard and it is now updating. It will take a while since there is a few weeks to catch up on. I have no idea why i had to click on the frontier icon, log into that, unlink and relink, but it looks like it works. I also went to the frontier authentication site just to see when i click on Authorized Applications, I still get the:
We have encountered an error processing your request
I do still get that error, but I can now log in to EDSM with xbox console, so I am happy again!

Hey, I am playing ED on Xbox One. It does sound like you're having a similar issue. Occasionally I get the Frontier Support status invalid error.

The issue seems to be using the "Connect using the Frontier Auth Service". When I hit "log in" and the screen appears to log in via Frontier Account, Steam, PS, and Xbox. My credentials won't work for the Frontier Account (but if I go directly to the Frontier User Portal site, they work just fine) The Steam link works to Steam account login, The Playstation link works to Playstation account login, but the Xbox link brings me right back to the EDSM "connect using the Frontier Auth Serivce".

Occasionally I get the Frontier Support status invalid error.

So I just unlinked my Xbox account from the Frontier Account and can't seem to re-link them. I will load ED when I get home and hope that links them again...

So I still can't get the EDSM site to play nice with the Frontier Auth login via my laptop. I was (after a couple attempts) able to get it to play nice using my tablet. I tried using the console updater and after the 3 min countdown, it said "The Frontier Auth Service is currently unavailable, please try again later."

Does anyone have suggestions on what to do now?

It does that, unfortunately, but it will work eventually, be that after a few minutes or sometimes after an hour or more. Let your tablet or PC run overnight sitting on the Console Updater page. If it is your first time on EDSM, the website will spend quite a lot of time downloading your last 30 days' or so's data.
 
Click the refresh token on the security page if your getting an issue after the 3mins count down on the first update of the day..

Thank you, I will give that a try! I'm assuming I'll have to change the screen time out settings on my tablet...or will it continue to run in the background when the screen is off?

I haven't played ED in quite a while, but I would like EDSM to update all my data regarding 1st discoveries and badges I've earned. I'm just assuming it will update all my ED data?
