GALNET UPDATE 03.12.3306 - Explorer CG info

Depending on the tier reached, Sirius Atmospherics will offer higher prices for exploration data starting on the 11th of December 3306. Tier 1: Standard payout for exploration. Tier 2: One week at double the standard payout. Tier 3: One week at three times the payout. Tier 4: Two weeks at three times the payout. Tier 5: Two weeks at four times the payout.

Starting to wonder how that might stack with LYR's PowerPlay triple-payout. And how quickly LYR's PP group could expand to the Coalsack to make that possible (requires hand-in at a controlled/exploited system).

You'd kill the power its so distant, not to mention it would be lost the next cycle. Plus (I could be wrong) that the data can be handed in anywhere as long as you are R5.

So that settles it, all explorers must die for the greater good

Shut it!

The CG text specifies Sirius Atmospherics giving the 4x payouts, if that's correct you'd need a Sirius Atmospherics asset in a LYR system.

Besides the suicidal CG system (604,28 HQ distance, -556 potential loss), Mons is the only system that fits such criteria. It is, however, pretty far from LYR HQ aswell (268,48 ly). Checking on the galmap, it contests 2 Aisling systems and would be a -219 loss for LYR. Pretty easy to scrap it later but it would probably involve some diplomacy to make it happen - the expansion triggers for such a system are going to be ridiculously easy to oppose.

Preparing and then expanding to it would take at least 2 weeks, which would eat away one week of the reward, so any kind of planning for this by the LYR leadership would first require an expectation of at least reaching tier 4 on the CG (tier 4 and 5 are the only ones with a two week reward).

That said, we're already getting one week of 4x exploration payouts during the CG. I really wonder how it would stack with the LYR bonus..

I scanned an ammonia world, tried to sell data at the correct station an it will not except it. What did I do wrong.

Check that you've signed up for the CG (any mission board) and that you are at least 20 Ly from where you scanned the AW.

Digging back a little, I guess this didn't work out for Sirius?
Back to bribing explorers it is?

I would expect it applies to Betancourt only - most global rewards are narrow like that.

On the other hand, like Rubbernuke, I'm pretty sure the rank 5 bonus for LYR applies anywhere and doesn't need control or exploit.

One other lore point: LYR is a data hoarder too, and suspected of being one of The Club. It would be an interesting route in if this was their machinations.

So you hand in all your data - this pushes it to Tier 2. You now have a week to get more when you hand in your data.

But you just handed in your data!

Am I reading this wrong? I am currently thinking I will stay out exploring until the CG finishes & Then when the x weeks of bonus payouts start I will return with my data.

Awesome CG, but slightly disappointing that true explorers are in a great disadvantage vs. those who just uses the "road to riches" and other databases.
I mean if someone will try to explore the Galaxy and find a new Ammonia Worlds it would be much less efficient if just google for Ammonia World lists or use the "Road to riches" tool with already known data... :-(

I really can't see the lore/logic in why we have to hand in data at a specific location, since once UC have it, it's available to all. For those of us Colonia-based and out in the deep black the DSSA (thanks guys) has made it easier for explorers to upload exploration data without having to 'unnecessarily' fly 10s of kly. So no way will I be slogging back to the bubble for this CG.
I'm still exploring for new ammonia worlds out near the rim - maybe the thargs had generation ships too ;)

Hmm true, wouldn't be surprised if their implementation for the bonus is station-only, instead of faction-wide. It's done in a pretty rough way as well - you get shown base values before selling the carto data, and then you'll notice it actually gave out 4x the amount. I'll try handing in some random non-AW data at Mons later just to be sure that's how it's working.

The LYR bonus in-game specifically mentions controlled/exploited systems, so if it works anywhere that sounds like a bug.

Sirius Corporation is famous for it's researches in hyperdrive and fusion technologies, alongside with it's traditional interest to exploration (so-called Wredguia Colony Cluster was founded by them in 3301), so it seems like this time they collaborating with Alliance to colonize the Coalsack region. The only one Universal Cartographics office could be explained by secrecy level - both Sirius and Alliance don't want data to be seen by the others. They can not control all UC, but one department - very possible.

Another question is - what they really want to do? These data are 99% from well-known systems from the Bubble, they will not lead to some notable scientific discoveries and could be easy accessed by current galactic databases. Terraforming? Well... May be something else and terraforming is just a formal reason (wearing tinfoil hat)...

If we start terraforming ammonia worlds - the only world that Thargoids can thrive on - then we can't be surprised when they come rolling in full scale to stop what they would perceive to be genocide. Starts warming up his G5 Engineered/Guardian modified Krait Mk II in background
