Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Well just look at UI, AI, assets completion, optimization, overall bugs (sure you can isolate those due to networking but let's not forget in a solo context player's computer will have to act like both client and server), how much hard time they have to get done with relatively common game design concepts, and as you say how little we know about SQ42 (please, no "it's because spoilers" excuse, please). Then it's easy to deduce they're not that much farther into SQ42 dev than they are into SC's.
UI : we don't know what they need for SC42 from the current SC UI. We don't know also if the SC UI is more or less advanced than the SQ42 UI.
AI : function pretty well on fresh servers with few players.
Overall bugs : you mean the same bugs we see atm on CP2077 video ?
We even don't know if you can pilot vehicles on planets in SQ42...

From devs, all ship's shields will be replaced by new ones using the new distant field tech released this year (the one used also for the flames for atmo's entry of ships).
Oh, you mean the one that slapped flames onto ships with no regard for how they actually moved through atmo, but rather assumed that they should show in exactly one way given the most naive, simplistic, and horribly horribly wrong reading of a single parameter? Sounds solid.

AI : function pretty well on fresh servers with few players.
:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
You're being astonishingly ridiculous now.

Overall bugs : you mean the same bugs we see atm on CP2077 video ?
No, a vastly larger set of bugs than that. Also, you do understand that nothing about CP2077 will ever make SC not fundamentally broken in every last detail, or make CI¬G even the slightest bit competent, right? You keep bringing it up as if it mattered. It doesn't.

I see reports of:

  • NPCs T-posing ... while naked ... and missing their arms
  • Vehicles sinking into the planet
  • Vehicles shooting off into the distance when touched

... in Cyberpunk 2077.

Is it now time to reconsider .... Was Star Citizen actually ahead of its time :D
So, it has come to this. In two days Star Citizen't wouldn't have more content than any released game anymore.
The end is nigh.

I mean, T-posing and submergent vehicles is the only kind of content that released games don't have but SC could brag about having. The situation will change. SC is being too little, too late, just as it always does.

If the launch of CP2077 is a bug fest, it will prove at least that 8 years of dev for what CDPR want to do is not enough ;)
And also that crunch time of x months will not magically give 2x months of work done.

CP will be a bug fest at launch, just like The Witcher 3 was. It's one of the reasons that I may not even play it until there have been a few patches (along with not being able to get hold of a new video card).
The difference is TW3 now works smoothly and is considered one of the best games ever made, which bodes well for 2077. On the other hand I've seen no evidence whatsoever that CIG is even capable of fixing some of the fundamentally broken systems in SC, or producing quality game play.

My starship sometimes spawns under water in NMS. And NMS has submarine vehicle too. OK, no T-pose seen so far. But some kind of huge worm.

T-posing Johnny Silverhand enters a bar at Port Olisar.
T-posing Bartender AI asks him: "Are you looking for free hugs?"
And Silverhand replies: "I'm hunting for the T-posing bear".

Sexy Bear enters the bar and gives both of them free hugs.

P.S. Chris did told you that Port Olisar has more content than whole Skyrim, didn't he?

"No one seems to dream about more to come anymore."

And when something gets put in, all that guy does is complain about them. Doesn't want a game, just wants to dream.

Shamelessly stolen from SC for cheap points:

It is the 21st Century. For more than 8 years the Emperor of Griftkind has set immobile on the Golden Throne of Kickstarter. He is the master of grift by the will of the gods and master of a million Caiman Island bank accounts by the might of his inexhaustible whales. He is a drooling moron writhing invisibly with power from a million contractors. He is the Sexy Bear Avatar of the vast collection of Citizens for whom a thousand artists souls are sacrificed every day so that he may never truly go bankrupt.

Yet even in his unbelievably dense state, the Emperor continues His eternal scope creep. Mighty battlefleets cross the screens of Unreal Engine, the only framework robust enough to render them, their progress enabled by the Mocapstronomican, the psychic manifestation of a quarter billion dollars lit on fire. Vast armies do not give battle in His name on uncounted worlds- it is more like 50 guys, on 4 moons. Greatest among His soldiers are the Evocatii, the Super Whales, bio-engineered simps with the wallets of champions. Their comrades in arms are legion: the German Horde and countless floor-mopping plebian scrubs, the ever-vigilant Forum Anti-Defamation League, and the tech-priests of the almighty Spectrum to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat to the grift that someone, somewhere, might consider the whole thing a waste of money- or far worse, worthy of a refund.

To be a Citizen in such times is to be one amongst untold dozens. It is to live in the cruelest and most stupid regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there are only sales. There is no release amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and pledging, and the laughter of thirsting starlets.

P.S. Some FUDster replied to that "Pledge for the Pledge God! Whales for the Whale Throne!"

You should know this by now.
If CI¬G talks about something using a technical term that already exists, they will invariably have misunderstood that term and are not actually talking about that thing. Or about anything, really.
For what I remember, they talk about it for clouds, light for atmosphere of planet, and other light stuff. You think they have misunderstood it and use it on the wrong stuff ?

What's the story about Aliens-style loader exoskeleton btw? I seem to remember it being mentioned. Is that still on the "roadmap"? Or was it just dreams.txt? Because it seems ludicrously luddite in a world of handheld gravity guns.
