Delivery Missions Massacred

They are forgetting the risk involved in the transport. Doing a risky transport of 2t of gold for 10k doesn't even pay the repairs in case of pirate attack.
Honestly, this method of changing rewards that Frontier does, nerfing deliveries to the ground and boosting combat rewards to an hilarious point... this shows how unprofessional they are. I don't know who in their staff is responsible for these things, but that guy is high on cocaine 24/7.

But- surely thats good? Leave aside the amount for a second- it means that you have an incentive to avoid getting damaged to make a (really small) profit.

I feel like those payouts are borderline fine for early game pilots in their starting Sidewinder, who are probably the most likely players to be doing short-haul 2t delivery missions.

I certainly remember, back in 2015, saving up the credits from a few four and five-figure tasks to buy a new module or whatever.

But as follow-on missions (which I'd say is supposed to be a juicy "reward" mission of sorts), for experienced players, yeah that's silly. It's not even particularly high influence/rep.

Looks like there needs to a big more nuance and awareness from the game in the types of missions offered to different types of players.

If this is the case, they should just remove any low tonnage deliveries if you’re in any rank above penniless for trading because there is absolutely no point to them and it’s just wasting board space.

So I had two follow-on missions I was due to complete that were left over from yesterday. I'm Elite in Trading and Exploration. The rewards have gone from reasonable, 600k approx, to this ;

How is this reasonable? It makes follow-on missions pointless in terms of payment. Balance payments according to rank as well as other activities.

Top marks for the thread title, OP.

Not only that, but its a follow up, something happened prior to getting this mission and in my case usually its a donation.
Inf and rep aside, the mechanism they had even made donations not a total loss. You got the message, 'from the donation you did we fabricated these special yada yada's, go knock yourself out transporting them'. Now it seems like 'thx for the coin, now haul it for scraps, or jog on kthxbai'

“Thanks for the goods :) Now F**K OFF!”

I’m guessing that this nerf to the bone occurred last night/early morning? As I did a go get me 20t of something yesterday and it paid 800,000 this was about 11pm.

the dev member who is responsible for this catastrophic mission nerf should be fired from company. these missions are not worth anything now.. as for pirate attacks and ship repairs thats just tiny bit, what about rebuys if newcomer fail to evade interdiction and fail the escaping from pirate and lose the ship? yes rebuy for cobra mk3 is not big but still hurt alot and for newcomer this will not attract him to continue play this game,in starter systems he wont be fined or get any strong repercussions, but if he fail mission outside the starting systems he will run into serious trouble with fines up to 100-150k per failed mission...

i fly asp explorer and had this happen, lost my ship because npc targetted my thrusters and fsd,it was not police or player,i was interdicted in solo. stacked 3 missions each 12 cargo two with 4 cargo and three with 2 cargo and rest in couriers, luckily the goods from missions could be purchased around mission location but i spent more than mission reward plus 900k rebuy..

i understand that fdevs dont want to make 1 day player to buy supercarrier in few hours of missions but really they are now completly useless, also cannot find 5+ rep missions anymore most are + or ++ and very few +++ rep missions. while influence there is many +++ or ++ variants and even those 4+. also cargo missions were triple nerfed. first nerf from 8-13millions to up to 1.5m then 400-700k but all i see now is 90-150k cargo delivery missions, with maybe only one or two for 200k....so 4th was bonus nerf?? fdevs please just delete cargo deliveries because they make no sense now and with mandatory rebuy/repair risk they are not worth time.. not worth to take 100k worth mission when rebuy of your ship can go in millions.

I think It's a hilarious oversight. Since they're changing delivery missions to be based on tonnage, those 2t chain missions will get horribly slaughetered in the process, so something will need to be done for them.
I've got bigger problems with chain missions though ;)

While delivery missions have been nerfed, simple trading has got a buff. Last week I was trading gold between 2 stations 13ly apart and was making 17M cr per run with a T9. Just yesterday, I was running silver between stations about 18ly apart and was making 10.5M profit per Cutter load.

Of course this most likely will soon be nerfed too. :/

I have a new philosophy ...

SAY NOTHING

I am done helping

Haulage missions are fine in the early game, but as you progress in the game they just become frustrating. This is particularly so when you upgrade from the Python to any large pad ship like the Anaconda, Type-9, or the Cutter. As I have pointed out elsewhere, if you want to offer good missions without requiring stacking where are the 400-700t missions? Also, why do they clobber the corner case big payouts in such a way that everyone else suffers as well, even if they weren't part of that particular gold rush? Here is hoping that haulage missions will get some much needed love in Odyssey. WIth some imagination there is so much that could be done to make haulage rewarding and fun:

  • More long range missions, from 100-2000 or more LY's.
  • Larger cargo missions for the big ships.
  • Specialized cargo requiring special cargo modules that have to be unlocked (bio-stasis cargo racks, refrigeration, radiation shielded, etc).
  • Fragile cargo that can be spoilt if your ship suffers hull damage.
  • Urgent cargo missions where speed is required.
  • Delivery to areas that have radiation that can eat at your ship, or space is unstable in some way causing module malfunctions.

I could go on and on....

Like you, chained mission was like 2t for 1 or 2M Cr. Often you had them after donating 500K to 1M Cr.

Now if you donate, you get offered 10K mission. This is ridiculous.

What the point of donating money now to a faction, if you can't get your money back through a chained mission ?

What a crappy nerf.

The 10M - 30M mission was great. They were a lot of risk involved, as you had up to 10 NPC pirates going after you per mission.
If you stacked 20 missions, you were interdicted all the time and many times had to fight three NPC at the time.

Funnily NPC Pirates were often fighting each other after they interdicted you, as they were all wanted.

This huge hauling mission nerf is really bad. Even mission that were from 1M to 6M got nerfed as well.

Hauling mission got nerfed to the ground.

Wow... just wow!
That barely pays for fuel if that were to increase in the process.

I guess I won't follow them any more.
I never do anyway.
