Odyssey ganking and rebuy screen?

I imagine the suit will contain a teleportation device that sends your body somewhere else when it becomes compromised. Imagine the health being the health of the suit rather than the health of the CMDR. Just like in a ship. As for where you go... who knows?

Ok, nice... but there's combat, so question remains, where would we respawn/wake up after we get killed (when shield drops, guess armor will crack like hulls do).
In the ship? Outside base?
Or would we just "freeze" until we "regain power" to continue?
Hope FDev reveals this soon.

My guess would be your ship, just like if you're killed while out in your SRV, maybe with a suit/gear rebuy inserted between death and walking up in the pilot's chair.

I just remembered that I answered this a year and a half ago:

When someone shoots your CMDR in the head, the little alien that lives inside it will automatically eject and be propelled, via mico-hyperspace jump, to the nearest starport, duh. Your next body comes with whatever ship choice you take, free of charge.

Yeah, and without majority of your bone mass as well, but the magic autodoc fixes this.

Can't believe the first thing you are worried after dodging death is your modesty!

I'm all in for my modules getting placed in a box full of living hamsters before transfer. The magic autodoc can fix the missing inorganic parts at the destination. :)

I can already imagine someone shooting with a portable rail gun in Starlight Bar and station security responding by sending Larry, Moe and Curly with telescope batons.

I’m hoping the respawn mechanic explanation is left as ā€œit’s just a gameā€ but if they do feel like lore-ifying it up then they go for the Altered Carbon needlecast consciousness download into a fresh ā€œsleeveā€ - our suits having a one-shot transmission burst facility built in.

Financial penalty (re-buy) being the cost of the fresh clone body.

One of the stories included with the Frontier First Encounters game featured something similar, though it was rebuilding bodies from their own remains.
