New thread meta-wishlist thread HERE.

As some of you might remember, a few weeks ago I started this thread in order to show how necessary it would be to change the current DLC formula in order to please what many PZ players are requesting. In order to support this premise, I collected data from this 30 animals wishlist thread by Jeminyne, which ultimately resulted in a meta-wishlist that could entail opening a different thread on its own right. And here it is.

The more people participating, the bigger the sample size will be so better conclusions can be drawn. I’m writting down every user who posts their list in order to avoid having repetitions. For this reason, those who posted their lists in Jeminyne’s thread can refrain to do so here as they’ve already been considered. I intend to keep this updated as much as I can.

For the sake of keeping the same wishlist structure, I ask you to post your 30 essential animals that you’d like to see in the game. Lists with anything above 30 animals will be discarded.

Exhibit and aviary animals will not be considered. The birds that will be considered are these that are mainly ground-dwelling or semi-aquatic (mainly Waterfowl, Galliformes, Ratites, Pelecaniformes, Penguins, etc. you get the idea). Birds of prey, parrots, Columbiformes, Passeriformes and so on will be omitted.

To simplify data collection, those answers that include several species per slot (eg.: 1. Any species of sloth) will be automatically treated as a single animal and added to the most requested species inside that generic animal group (eg. in this case: Brown-Throated Three-Toed Sloth). This obviously leads to an underestimation of the total key requested animals.

Here is an example of 30 essential animals wishlist:
1. Dama Gazelle
2. Arabian Sand Gazelle
3. Chinkara
4. Erlanger's Gazelle
5. Dorcas Gazelle
6. Mountain Gazelle
7. Rhim Gazelle
8. Speke's Gazelle
9. Goitered Gazelle
10. Tibetan Gazelle
11. Arabian Gazelle
12. Cuvier's Gazelle
13. Heuglin's Gazelle
14. Red-fronted Gazelle
15. Mongalla Gazelle
16. Red Gazelle
17. Grant's Gazelle
18. Soemmerring's Gazelle
19. Przewalski's Gazelle
20. Mongolian Gazelle
21. Steenbok
22. Beira
23. Gerenuk
24. Dibatag
25. Impala
26. Oribi
27. Klipspringer
28. Suni
29. Bate's Pygmy Antelope
30. Royal Antelope

And here is the Meta-wishlist:
A total of 476 animals have been considered 'essential' by at least one forum user.

TL;DR: Post your 30 essential habitat animals wishlist here. I will record each wishlist and add it to the Meta-list. Aviary and exhibit animals won’t be taken into consideration.

PS: Check darthquell's thread for Essential exhibit animals and tjc05310's thread for Essential aviary animals.

Hopefully FD is reading these forms and posts like this (I'm sure they are but just in case...). We know, the meerkat will be difficult to do due to borrowing and terrain interaction. We know, it's smaller than what we have now. We know, it's an all new rig and would require some new behavior if they want to make it closer to real like. We know all these things. We also know they are highly requested and are one truly few "must have" animals they need to give a priority to. I hope they know this as well.

And fantastic work!

I'm sure they know how badly we want the meerkat. The fact that they haven't come and flat-out stated that "we aren't doing small animals" or something to that effect gives me hope that something is in the works for it. The CM's are usually pretty good at telling us when something isn't going to happen (such as eggs, animal special effects, new animal life stages, changes to existing animal models, and so on) and questions and comments around this subject especially have been made where Frontier can easily see them.

If the supposed "Desert Pack" rumour is true then that could be a good place to add the meerkat, if it is on the cards.

Picking 30 animals is a tough choice. I gotta say a lot of Malayan tapir fans here. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great animal but I’ve always found the South American tapir to be a much more interesting tapir species. Almost prehistoric in appearance.

And I really hope people don't abuse the system. Sorry but for now I'm definetely not adding your list for obvious reasons until I get confirmation (if I can).

Just for the record, I'll keep a vigilant eye on people who deliberately try to use this thread to their advantage. I want to keep this as serious and accurate as possible so every detail is taken into account.

If it's possible for my birthday because it's very soon I want 1 from the list and my 30 animals that I want to have are:

Do I get to "refill" animals in slots that have been released in the meantime? ;)
Well, that's something I've been thinking...Many people posted their lists before the Aquatic pack came out. I would be happy to allow these 'refills' but I'm not sure if it would cause some data imbalance, eventually.
I would pretty much need everyone who posted their lists before the Aquatic pack to state whether their choices stand or not. E.g. I believe there were some people who chose 'seal' or 'otter' for instance, and I automatically allocated their votes under the most voted species inside those groups (Harbour seal and Asian small-clawed otter). I would need these users to say whether they felt the aquatic pack animals fulfilled the role of those choices or not......too much hassle and not likely to happen tbh ;(
