OK guys, I am ready to admit that I am completely stuck!

i don't know your build or jumprange - but pre guardian boosters crossing the formidine rift was usually done more west iirc.

Its a Cobra Mk3, max unboosted range of 31Ly. I was heading in a general Westerly direction, but clearly headed Galactic north again too soon.

Go down, directly down;

So, go down friend and you will be fine!

Howdy Varonica, just wanted to give you a huge thank you for that tip. I have some much clearer paths ahead of me now. Fingers crossed I can safely get into Elysian Shore. Once there, my path back to the bubble should be relatively issue free!

Isn't time the fourth dimension?

I think time counts as a dimension? But is also quite famous for being nature's way of making sure everything ever, doesn't all happen at once. (I think, I thought or I will think so anyway)

Happy to see Cmdr Hicks has threaded Ariadne's needle away from the Minotaur. For the sake of interest if I get into areas where there might only be one way back out, and if the visted-stars filter is a bit unclear which it can be, I've got into habit of carrying ballast. Racks 100% full of expendable hydrogen fuel, water, liquid O2, limpets whatever, if you find more valuable cargo you can jettison one for one with no effect on the laden jump range, you plotted your way in with. In emergencies you can also dump your ballast for a small but potentially significant free jump range boost and fans that have, "come a long way for your tasty cargo," they love it too.

Now. Where's my ball of string.

FWIW, if you ever get stuck while trying to get back from somewhere, the first step is to use the galmap's filters to show visited systems.

Apply this and all the systems you've visited will be in blue, which might allow you to figure out how to get un-stuck.

It does, but if you count the number of dimensions that got folded up to singularity when time/space separated a few pico-seconds after the big bang it comes in at around 14 or 15 I think!

OK, so I have been away from my PC for a week-over Christmas-but just felt like giving a very quick update. So my long journey back to the bubble continues.....but thank goodness it looks like there will be no more insurmountable gaps along the way. Looking at these pics side by side, it looks like I have barely moved, yet the second pic is after about 1.5 hours of jumping-though I'd probably go much faster if I didn't insist on scanning every system I go through ;). If my ship gets destroyed before I can hand in the data, I shall be very, very vexed!

Nice going, I also scan everything with the FSS so that's not unusual, how fast I travel usually depends on how large systems are and how many interesting things they contain, you did a fair distance there so that's not bad. Let us know if you have any other problems, and don't be reluctant to go solo to hand in your data in a populated system, NPC's are easy, other players not so much!

Good job CMDR. You nearly home. Happy for you. And I agree with @veronica. Go SOLO, loosing that much data to random encounter will really hurt...

OK, thought I would give another quick update on my progress. I have progressed deep into the Elysian Shore Sector, & am now making the push into my final leg-back into the Inner Orion Spur. It's over 300 jumps to get to the system I have targeted, but hopefully I will reach an inhabited planet long before that!

Nice progress there sir! It has been fun to follow your progress.
I'll launch some Flak for you in Buzhang Ku later... That shouldn't be too threatening 🥳
