Ever Run Into Yourself In Game?

I was doing some pirate kill missions yesterday and targeted one with my name. Just first name, but he only had one name and it was mine. I was hesitant being that he was obviously a special creature, but eventually he had to die too.

I've encountered 1st and last names of friends while playing. I sent them screenshots. Pretty odd.

Haha, I've only ever seen this happen once in a Wing for a Wing mate :D

If I was FDev, I'd have coded an Easter Egg into NPCs as soon as they encounter their "patron" name-giver.
Special chat lines and odd behaviour (i.e. "No! It can't be! I've met my Master" or "Nooo! There can be only ONE !!!") ;)

I had to hesitate once with killing David Attenborough, but it was brief...

Several times here as well. Apparently by the 34th century he's given up on documentaries and switched careers to piracy.

Though on the last one I could have sworn I heard, "And here we see the Krait in its natural environment..." drifting in over the radio before it all went funny.

I have an unusual surname. In real life, I've never met anybody with the same name except family, though I have seen it from time to time in lists; however, I have seen clusters of passengers with my surname when doing passenger missions. Of courese, I always feel obliged to take them first. I also found an NPC crew with the same name, who I hired for a while.

Now I want to guess, but I'm afraid I might get into trouble...! ;)

There used to be a bug where you could literally run into yourself in and around player-crowded stations.

On multiple occaisions I’d run into a nameless “player” with my identical ship and ship name, with every identical cosmetic option, on the same landing platform I’d left minutes earlier. After this happened enough times with enough different ships, I realized that it was actually my ship, just duplicated and empty by some freak bit of code.

I even ran into my own Corvette which got cloned a moment before I low-waked out of a station instance. Came back to find it just hanging in space, with all its heatsinks extended, humming like it was about to jump, but never did.

Sounds like you fell into an episode of Star Trek...

Nepotism never ends well! I on the other hand have a common surname and have never seen anyone else with it so I guess that's never going to be a problem for me.

I had to hesitate once with killing David Attenborough, but it was brief. And it's not my name. So it's not much of an anecdote really, but meh...!

I've destroyed David Attenborough a few times, always seemed to be wrong that he was a wanted villain...

I've also destroyed both Braben and David Braben - and seen my own actual name on an NPC - once, but that was ages ago.
