Odd Interdiction Attempt

I was flying my Eagle taxi yesterday. No cargo racks or anything of the sort. A pirate pops up and says, "You've got something I want!" I won the minigame and docked at my destination. I realized that I had a tip off message in my messages that I hadn't deleted (I don't do those). Do those trigger pirates even if you don't bother doing them?

I'm not aware of tip offs doing that, but cargo or not, pirates will occasionally interdict. Moreso as system security lowers, I believe.

@Mitch Brewer yeah Vedmo is right, from my experience. I've had these random ones that seem to talk like they are a mission pirate, whereas it seems their dialogue is confusing. You get them more commonly in low sec places, especially with more than a few ls supercruise.

I didn't think tip offs would trigger it. I haven't been interdicted in that particular ship in over 3 years so thought something might have changed. Guess it was just a random thing that took 3 years to show up.

Had one say that to me yesterday as I arrived at a system, even though I had no cargo and no missions. Maybe you are hostile to that faction?

Oddball Pirate NPC Interdictions can occur despite carrying no Missions nor Cargo.

They're most likely in Systems where you still have Neutral Rep with many or all Factions, very unlikely when you're Allied with many Factions.
They're more likely to occur in Anarchy Systems, especially if above criteria are met (no positive Rep with Factions).

Such an NPC won't attack unless
  • you indeed carry Cargo and the NPC successfully scans that + resulting demands are not met
  • you move >1km from the Drop-In point after Interdiction, NPC logic : Player attempts to flee
  • you fire up FSD before the NPC can complete the (negative) scan and buzz off with a typical Message (i.e. "Nothing for me there, move along") , NPC logic : Player attempts to flee
  • you open fire on that NPC, NPC logic : return fire

Pirates and police randomly interdict you to check you out. It happens to me all the time - really annoying when I'm scanning planets because I'm at zero throttle, so get pulled out without a fight, then I have to get back into supercruise and start all over again. In fact, I'd say that it happens more when I'm scanning planets than any other time.

As other's have said, the tip-off itself won't trigger pirates unless the mission you had the tip-off for is still active.

I had one the other day where I was at the nav beacon for the system and I just had pirate after pirate saying the whole "you got something I want" line despite my hold being empty. Think I killed about 6 before I got bored and left, kinda helped that since being at the nav beacon, system security were also present.

I also had 2 random interdiction attempts recently (first since playing, over 300 hours on this account presently) 1 was by system security, despite me having no bounty, fines or illegal cargo/passengers, and the other was from a random pirate telling me he wanted what was in my hold, despite not only being empty, but also having no missions.

So basically, this kinda stuff does happen randomly sometimes, but unless you have cargo/missions where "ships may be sent after you" is in the description, it's far less likely.

I doubt it. My beard in game is nothing compared to IRL. I do think we need longer beards, longer ponytails and some bandannas in the game.

I agree. I normally have short hair, but it's a bit leggy atm. My cmdr has silver dreads.

How long did it take to get your beard that good Mitch? Feel free to tell me to cram it though, if this is annoying you!

Is it like a gandalf though, where you measure its age in decades?!

About 3 or 4 years since I kept it short. Now I just trim it up when it gets too out of control. The worst thing though is wearing a mask, it makes it flat up top and poof out underneath. Looks silly. My grand-daughter likes it so I guess I'll keep it until she changes her mind.

I'll second that one mate. Not so fussed about the bandanas myself, but since my friends call me Jesus, use your imagination for why, I'm all for longer beard/hair options.

Sure Mitch, I was just referring to your "real" beard in the picture, :ROFLMAO: by the way my long ponytail has gone three weeks ago after a long time so now I'm growing this thing "beradlike",let's see what comes out of it.
