I think most developers know the lower limitations required to run their product, otherwise they will be opening themselves up to litigation. LIke someone taking them to court because they can't run their high end, graphic intense program on the guys old Pentium 1 PC. If there is no 'Minimal Specifcations' listed someone will try it, human nature and all.Any rhetoric is good, apparently, how could the developers possibly know the specs needed to run their software? I mean, look at CD Projekt Red and their console release! (but ignore that the PC version was only slightly buggy and runs pretty well on anything that isn't a potato)

using Mega Bite allows the PC to swallow one human-sized opponent at once (eliminating the opponent) in combat; or bite a chunk of bigger opponent off, dealing 3d6+STR/2 damage in the process

As Frontier have already mentioned that the minimum specs remain unchanged for Odyssey (and it has been debated a few times already) asking the community if they know different is a little odd, although would be a valid question if any of us already had the DLC on our machines and were able to provide a direct comparison between before and after.

Mine doesn't even have that, still plays it pretty darn well. While I'm not quite on ultra settings for everything it still looks awesome.

I think that it is fair to speculate, on a discussion forum, about the likely implications of an update that is due to arrive in the upcoming months, that will increase the scope of a game as to whether it will change the minimum system specifications.
Although Frontier have said it will run on existing PCs (the minimum specs), it may run like a dog and so Frontier would up the Recommended specs for the game.
The speculation is heightened by the fact that consoles have been dropped from the first release. The extension of the speculation was the CyberPunk2077 example where last gen consoles were struggling. (alhough not explicitly stated by Frontier)
This thread also gives a chance for some oen to link to updated data if it is published on system specification.
The internet is great for keeping a history of everything posted, it is therefore quite possible that a google search (other search providers are available) may bring up out of date information.
Okay, fair enough, speculation is fine I guess. As long as people understand that it is speculation but unfortunately some here have trouble differentiating between speculation and fact. As for FD stating the game will still run on minimal specs, who is going to say otherwise or call FD liars? Do you know anyone who has tried out the DLC? So any response other than what FD has stated is pure, unadulterated, guesswork, often tainted with bitterness or dislike against FD.Be careful,

The correct time to ask this question is after the Alpha drops, when people actually have a chance to see if it will run or not. That way they can give an answer based on reality, not a self serving baseless opinion.
That would be really helpful, Rat Catcher. I appreciate that. Please don't get yourself in any trouble breaking NDAs for it though. I am glad you are willing to help for this but I don't want you to get in trouble with Frontier over it though. Oh, and I realize that what I am asking from people right now is more of guesses and opinions based on their years of experience with this game and others. I expect the minimum requirements to be the same as now (and the game will at the same time not look as good as in the videos), since they need to support old generation consoles. To max out everything you'll probably need a bit more than at the moment, so I'll have to juggle a few more settings to get the balance right (in VR. Which is the way it is meant to be played, in case I wasn't specific enough above
).FDEV seem to treat these "Alpha" tests as somewhat public Betas - there are no NDAs and everyone who's eligible (bought the relevant product) can attend.
It is one of those dead-ends that are 'fun' to debate but until the software is in somebody's hands and compared is futile - we have already the 'official' comment which is that there is no change in minimum specs

Well, this current system that will be going to my friend has a 1st gen i7 in it and some pretty old hard drives so I am a bit worried about it being able to handle the new expansion. As I said in a previous post, it does tend to bog down in areas where there are a lot of ships flying about shooting at each other. Not sure whether it's the hardware or the internet connection though. I am just hoping my friend will be happy with it. Oh, and I do apologize. I didn't actually mean to be sarcastic. I really did think that Frontier would have at least some sort of NDA attached to their alpha test. Don't worry, I won't take your sarcasm seriously... I understand your concern that your hardware may be totally inadequate for purpose, unlike my own, so naturally I'm very happy to lend a hand, I'm not in the least insecure about my own PC's abilities to run modern games software.
