Spacelegs should have no involvment/influence in BG's until Odyssey is released on all platforms

As the title reads, spacelegs should have no involvment in BG's until Odyssey is released on all platforms.

This will damage squadron standing in a very negative way...6+months can negate years of work in maintaining positions etc.

I fear this is a very overlooked aspect of the delay. Sure, we on console want a finished product just like anyone else. But at the cost of being 6mo behind?

Has this already been touched on?

I respectfully disagree. The universe marches on, regardless of who participates and when. And as others have said, you'll still have the existing methods for influencing the BGS anyway.

I can think of one scenario where having access to Odyssey would give an advantage to BGS.

Assuming a whole bunch of star systems get new spaceports opening up on formerly unlandable planets, there are bound to be some systems which currently do not have Large landing pad access, and would continue to not have large landing pad access for non-Odyssey players, but which become usable for large ships in Odyssey. Odyssey players could go to that system in a large ship, dock at the tenuous-atmosphere surface port and pick up large-ship missions, and repair/refuel/rearm their large ships, while non-Odyssey players would have to use a medium ship, bring a carrier, or leave the system.

We don't even know if those spaceports will, or will not be useable by ED/Horizons. Has there been official word on that, that I missed?

'Tis logical. If you cannot land on the planet (because you don't have Odyssey), then you cannot land at the spaceport. Just like now, if you play the base-game, you cannot land at Horizons surface ports.

Console burden race stays true to it's name, 'Everyone must stop, and wait for us to catch up!' ;)

Ribbing aside, I can't blame ya for feeling that way. I'd be irritated too, but I wouldn't have positive expectations in this regard. We're talking about the same developer that sees no issue with people effecting BGS from single player, so they clearly don't care about fairness of input for BGS. That alone tells you what to expect. On the bright side, maybe it will be the impetus you need to ascend.
There is nothing unfair about influencing the BGS in solo. There is nothing unfair about Odyssey influencing the BGS either.

That makes zero sense. If Odyssey doesn't contribute to the BGS then squadrons on PC with Odyssey available will be disadvantaged. Some members of their squad will be playing Odyssey content and contributing nothing to the BGS, whereas all squad members on consoles without Odyssey will still be contributing the full amount to BGS, giving console players an unfair advantage over PC players. All players should have the same opportunity to contribute to the BGS no matter what content they are playing!

I would agree in suspending only the exploration for 'first find' of odyssey specific discoveries, the rest can carry on regardless.

You know, the more threads like these I read, the more I wish Frontier would just release the console versions at the same time as the PC one, regardless of the state they'll be in - it would have some entertainment potential.

What sci-fi shooting game doesn't feature 'loadsa bugs' unless I've misunderstood... :p

It'll probably be a few months before anyone understands the impact of activities on the BGS anyway with FDev no doubt tweaking things behind the scenes. During that time everyone is likely being less effective due to experimenting with things.

Then we come in and use the knowledge they have found. It'll come with a bunch of spoilers in the interim period unless you shut your eyes and put your fingers in your ears after PC release (which is the part I don't like, but there you go it's done now), but I'd rather it was implemented at the start. You just know there's going to be issues with suddenly plugging Odyssey into the BGS. If something is going to fail, have it fail as early as possible.
