As far as I can tell, in this case we need to search 80LY around point where transmission was received to find something. I think it's designed to not be done alone, but rather as community effort.In reality the problem for me is I will never solve it myself unless I check the forums

I don't see anything wrong with using social media to announce the event and how to start. There's more info on the in-game galnet than the social media, as it should be. It's not like galnet exactly tells you that there's news unless you keep opening the tab.

I took a look in the system, no apparent clues...
Moved my FC to a nearby system as the 'clue' system was getting a little crowded.
Now just pottering around a bunch of systems, not being organised or anything, just having fun

I have to agree. Even if I won't be able to take part in this, it's nice that the galaxy feels "alive" again.
