Make the Type 7 a medium ship

You see the balance problem with the suggestion then.

As a medium ship it would certainly have more use than the others as a trade ship, so this would justify a higher price.

And you don't see the balance problem with the current situation?
Reducing the size of the Type 7, it could lose some of its cargo hold, but not much. As it is, the price per ton of cargo hold between the Types 6, 7 and 9 is pretty much in line. Though not necessarily a straight line.

I believe the explanation was that it's too tall for a medium pad. If the case, make it shorter. I never understood why the T7 wasn't allowed to compete with the Python.
OR make it possible to land on medium pads but not enter the hangar. That would still allow the Type 7 to trade, repair, and rearm at outposts. The whole "we gotta spin you around before you take off" requirement at an outpost is ridiculous, and it's the only reason the T7 can't land on a medium pad.

Because it's significantly cheaper, and cost was supposed to mean something...even did, for about the first nine months after release.
As it should be - it's a big, empty box designed specifically for hauling. The Python is a "sexy" (depending on your tastes) Swiss Army Knife of a ship that can do just about anything. Allowing the T7 to land on a medium pad would not devalue the Python any more than my cheap SUV devalues a new Hummer.
