10'000+ Hour Exploration Mission

This is a goal I have planed and been thinking about for quite some time, as of now I have Launched Yesterday February 6th 2021 to see if I Can travel 10'000+ Hours through the galaxy. I have done two pre flight tests although short I am rolling with an Asp Explorer. However this might be a little unique is that I plan to 100% Stream everyday for 12+ hours a day to make it as Legit as possible. My overall goal is simply with COVID being the way it is and I have been gaming these types of hours for over 23 years now. I would like all the Exploration I encounter while on this mission to be documented with video. I am not sure what I will do once the mission is complete but I wouldn't mind somehow finding a way to edit all the videos into one time laps. I just don't know how to do that, LOL!!

Anyhow if you wish to take a look along what I am attempting you can watch my stream here, Northstar

Thanks all and I hope everyone is having fun exploring the Galaxy!!

Really! 10,000 hours at 12 hours a day is 833 days, nearly three years  Everyday 12+ playing ED for 3 years :oops::oops::oops:

Correct, haha. At least that is my plan and I hope don't I bounce off a tight binary system or a Quasar that will end the trip in a hurry!! but if anyone here is good at editing I wouldn't mind help with the videos at the end of the trip LOL!!!! Also forgot to mention that is 10'000 hours in one Trip.

ED is one of a fairly rare number of games where a player can set really massive goals, break them down into manageable chunks & work towards them, good luck OP ;)

I spent around 18 months (real time) out on my longest trip (so far), it was around 2,500 hours of game time I think. There were times I got bored & started to lose motivation, having other friends also out on their own travels, keeping tabs on their progress with the friend tags on the galaxy map and winging up, multi-crew & just chatting in the game helped me to stay motivated & keep pushing.

But I have also seen so many friends set off, eager to explore & full of a sense of adventure steadily log in less & less, sometimes never to return to the game. Hopefully you have a handle on that OP ;)

Well to address the person on how I avoided life for 23 years, uh disability tends to do that to people. on a lighter note I may not have much but I have an absorbent amount of free time LOL! and with this game and my time its a perfect combination to achieve this the only thing stopping me is the math of hitting a very bad landing spot and my ship goes boom.... to note i played EQ for 5 years in a raiding guild that had 5 days a week mandatory raiding for minimum 8+ hours.... so this is doable.

EDIT: Well to also mention I have been a master of isolation gaming since around 1997 for 12-18 hours a day. I need to make things interesting to last in isolation, so I am hoping to Achieve a routine with this :)

Mapping vertical thrusters to an analogue axis eliminates most of the danger from high-G landing. And practice of course, you'll have plenty of time for that ;)

When I explore I'm usually fully armed & more importantly armoured. Slows everything down a bit (particularly jump range) but there's much less stress when your hull can take a knock or two ;)

Well then I am flying a kite for these 10k hours LOL!!! I think my motivation ultimately would be how many viewers I get and see how much interest there would be for t he length of travel and amount of isolation would be involved if it were a real mission.

I don't fly anything without a shield, ever! Besides, if you go ahead with this, maximum jump range is just not an issue for you so armour up and get a shield on.

If nothing else, then at least heavy duty & deep plate the lightweight armour, the hull boost comes with no penalty to jump range. :)
Of course even a 3A (or C, or D) shield generator as enhanced low power with or without experimental will help if (when) you goof a landing.

Complacency and muscle memory will (try to) kill.
Here's a video of some goofing around, showing the truth in above stamement and also in the previous paragraph:

Unless you intend to do this as a solo/endurance run, there are a few people who might help you if when you get into trouble:
  • Hull Seals. Will repair anything on your ship, except for the power plant
  • Fuel Rats. They have fuel, you don't. No other questions.
  • DSSA. The Deep Space Support Array. A bunch of fleet carriers with open docking and repair facilities, distributed throughout the Galaxy.

Good Luck.

Haha! I just had an Emergency stop! 99% Haul, but you all don't realize I started on the 6th and already have 32 hours of recorded streaming done...
So you're well on your way in the expedition then. :)
Watching the stream now, refreshing take on exploration. (y)
As I gather, you have lots of time on your hands, so no need to do things quick. But that fuel scoop you have is abysmal! :D Or do you deliberately scoop at the slowest possible pace?
Anyway, good luck & have fun!
