Walking around in cockpit for explorers is needed!

It sounds like you've been in the bubble for a while, but with my point of view is that the galaxy is very large if you compare with the bubble or Colonia, then you can not do much than chill around and discover things.

I've been in the bubble for the last 6 months or so (by choice) but I do have over a million light years of exploration behind me too, including trips to Beagle and the far side of the galaxy, so I'm familiar with the loneliness of the long distance runner traveler. My main account has just set out on a trip actually, since I now have an alt courtesy of the Epic Games account giveaway I no longer have to choose between exploration and the rest of the game. I've been out in the black for around 8 months at a time though.

I would pay extra money to be able to switch off the cockpit lights in the Asp , why (aside from player made mods) this isn't an option is beyond me.

Krait also. I don't need map lights in it, I'm not getting my A-Z out when I pass Pluto to work out where to go next.

Leaving your ship is a pretty basic feature on all space games. You don't need or want that 'luxury', but everyone else does.
Really. I've played many a great space game where you can't leave your ship.

But I never said that I didn't want to leave my ship on foot or with the SRV. I just don't see the point of getting up and walking around your cockpit for no reason at all being needed for exploration. I'm happy to wait as long as what they produce for Odyssey is done well. I am very much looking forward to Odyssey.

I would like to see any internals that are done for the ship have a gameplay purpose and it adds meaningful content. Not just to walk around a few times and then forget about it.

Just recovering from a good session of creator diving with an srv.. playing with the camera views from an anaconda bridge..

Yeah i think it would be a real shame if we cant use the interior spaces... even only for player housing.

Frontier, see elder scrolls online on how to implement it. Sell the bits and pieces. We can wait for other rooms for when the SPACE legs expansion is ready.

Umm...no? I don't think anyone imagining legs and space ship cabins would want FDEV to steal ideas from Elder Scrolls Online and incorporating them into ED.

I've played many greater space games with this one basic feature - including Kerbal Space Program, Outer Wilds, and most importantly, No Man's Sky with capital ships that have customisable interiors made from modular parts.

Why not? Have you tried the player housing there? Its elite offputting to start, but once you're a little bit familiar its amazing. Definitely better than the fixed boxes approach. Its like planet zoo piece by piece building vs jwe with dumb stamps and magical borders that wont overlap.

Yes, and um...no. I play Elite to fly a spaceship, I don't expect to have to build the cabin myself, I expect the ship maker to supply a fully working and functional cabin.

I haven't done a lot of exploration, some, and when I was out deep in space, I got space madness. I found myself staring at the galmap, and just going from star to star almost aimlessly. I think to break the monotony, cockpit legs is very important. It will give a nice and alternate view. Yeah, I may be in deep space, but it would be nice to go and sit at the captains mess while parked at some random star that I'm calling home for the night, maybe have a wing mate on board and just hang out. I would love to be able to decorate the inside of my ship and look out a side window.

Odyssey is going to completely change this game for the better! I can't wait, and I would also love to hear that someday we can walk around in our ships too.

has anyone told him yet?

SRVs in deep space "exploration" is pretty much the same as legs... there's nothing out there.

I usually have first class cabins in my pimped out Python and would love to go lounge in that for awhile with some friends. My friends like bobbleheads and what nots, can you imagine what they would spend on cabin upgrades? Pay attention fdev!

I would, perhaps, like a relaxation corner, leather chair, bookshelf, fireplace.

Sure it would be nice, but since it brings almost no gameplay with it, then it's no wonder Frontier doesn't want to invest time and resources to give us half baked feature that people would use once or twice and stop using soon after, complaining about it later - and people would complain about everything - "there's nothing to do", "those computer screens are just textures", "my head clips through the roof in places" "since we have cockpit, why don't we have other parts of the ship?".

Personally, I would love some survival mechanics, with FPS style repairing and engineering of of your ship, crafting station onboard, where you work on your equipment, geological and biological samples, prepare meals, sleep. But that's a scope of another game, or at least big expansion that's probably not in Frontier plans.
Yeah, can admit that I can only hope that this "probably" not entirely "a scope of another game". But, being realistic this is in fact a very slight hope. Dreams...

Also, taking into account that we have already AMFU and repair limpets as it was already noted.

There is another field that is still looks like an uncovered by present gameplay, and that do require ship interiors and have some commons echoes with EDO - yep, ship boarding parties and related pew-pew. So, there is still "gameplay" potential in this domain.

However according to my data all our ships are already equipped with some kind of automatic defense system, quite effective and capable to remain in fully functional state even when the rest of the ship is completely wrecked. So probably this "door" is also "closed" already.

Yes, but AMFU and repair limpet controller require space and cargo for limpets - Repairing ship yourself could work as an alternative that doesn't require those automatic tools. Takes longer, you need to do it yourself, but you can use the space saved for something else.
I'm saying that, but I really doubt Frontier would be interested in adding that kind of content. One can dream though :)

A thousand years into the future it would be quite impossible for any human being to board a ship whose non thinking AI security system didn't want them there.
