What do you expect in the odisey fps? positive fps post

Well my question is simple, what actions and missions do you hope to be able to perform in Odyssey? I say in the face of so many criticism post of "they killed my game by giving it fps" I want to see the other side of the coin and what expectations or dreams the CMDR have before the Fps. For example, I am hoping to have settlement defense missions, all very nice with that of deactivating a base, but I would also like to defend a settlement together with my fleet companions

Frontier doesn't appear to be doing a lot with Odyssey. Leaving ships and having to watch the game cut between the cockpit and the ground would be comparable to alt+tabbing to a generic barebones FPS.

TL;DR: Can't be positive about an FPS horseshoed into a space trader game.

Im hoping that the FPS part of the game will be a welcome alternative combat experience. Im optimistic people in space suits will not suffer the same bloated hitpoint situation the ships suffer from. If a skilled player can do amazing things by combining stealth and headshots, it would be great. Gameplay progession based solely on time served disgusts me. Skill and cleverness should be more important than gear and time served.

If something positive, then...I wait to have possibility to walk on the stations, to talk with 3D persons on them (not to look at static pics on mission board etc.). Maybe as a pedestrian to see the capitals of the Empire, Federation and so on. I hope there might be more something positive..

Not sure how "giving fps killed the game" actually works... don't wanna FPS? Dont. It's that simple.

I for one am looking forward to Oddessy. FPS will add a whole different, yet oddly enough very similar experience, to current Elite. I think overall Oddessy is gonna be good!

Something positive?

The potential for weapons-in-hand giving me an excuse for the rumble mod I've always wanted to try:

I'm more positive about an FPS shoehorned into a space trader game than I am about a purpose built space trader game not having an actual economic simulation nine years into development and six years after release.

Not sure about the specifics of the first person shooter element as I suck at them but I am interested in checking out some of the communal areas and seeing what interactivity is on offer.

Also, very keen to stand on a world with a tenuous atmosphere to watch sunrise (or sunset). My hope is that the light model does it justice.

Then why reply at all to this thread, where the OP asked only one thing: some positive expectations?

I smell a troll.
"Jilted John" still mourns the loss of (insert heart-rending tale here)...
(There are a few of the 'heart-broken' wandering the forum bewailing their loss, more to be pitied than shamed)

I hope to go deep core mining in my Dolphin with Small Seismic Charges, oh Odyssey will be glorious, I can't wait!

For me its just the expansion of the playable area and finally becoming a person instead of a SRV/ship. For sure the ship based stuff will remain the focus but it will be nice to get out of my ship and step foot on distant worlds or see the interior of stations.

And one day, perhaps, we will be able to walk around our ship and visit even more locations.

Maybe we will be able to enter Thargoid and Guardian structures at some point (i assume we will be able to go on foot inside the Thargoid structure that already exists.

And i'm sure i'll be happy enough doing some base assault missions on foot.

All in all, its all part of the bigger game that FD sold to backers during kickstarter and so any progress in that direction is good for me.
