Commodity refresh at stations?

So, I need to get some meta-alloys for an Engineer. I used https://inara.cz/commodity/ to find some, and it said Vaucanson Hub at Zandu had thousands in stock as of "2 minutes" ago.
I'm there now, and they have none. I kept refreshing both the commodities page, and Inara, and for about 30 minutes Inara keeps saying it has some, but the Hub keeps not.
Now, I refreshed Inara... oops, no more. So it caught up with realtime. :)
Actual question: Should I stick around and keep refreshing the Commodity page and it'll get some more in? If so, about how long does it take usually? I'd hate to keep flying around chasing supposed stock on Inara to keep finding it gone. :/

Ah, yeah, I guess I was. Still very new to all this...

:O Really?? :O
That's.... FAAARRRR away! (er well, I guess not compared to the size of the galaxy LOL) But MUCH farther than I've ever travelled so far.
Well, no one said it'd be easy. :) Thanks for the tip!

You can also get them via SRV at barnacle locations, which might be closer(not sure, haven't done it in a while).

Some carriers will sell, but you might be chasing around for one. If I were you I'd go to the place dod said, but don't go in open.
Yeah, I've been playing in Solo for a while now, especially when I was down to 1 insurance rebuy!
I've got a few rebuys in the bank now so I'm not as scared, but I'm still gonna stay in Solo :) At least with my Hauler. When I decide to get a DBX or DBS, then I might go back to Open ^_^

It may seem like a bit of a trek, but the things you have to do to unlock the engineers make you engage with different aspects of the game and you'll learn lots of useful stuff along the way.

In the case of Felicity and the Meta Alloy, the main lessons are:
Get a Cargo Rack
Get a decent Fuel Scoop
Plan your journey so you can refuel en route
Learn how to land on planets safely

Some people moan about the hoops you have to jump through for engineers, but for me they're about as close to "Quests" as I'm gonna get, the reward is worth the effort and they've all taught me valuable in-game lessons.

Good luck

I have 2 meta alloys on my FC Famine, which is currently parked in Teaka - if you'd like one I'll gladly meet you in-game and drop one for you to collect.
Send me a Friend request and I'll invite you to PG to collect.
I appreciate that, but I'mma gonna do it the "hard," intended way :) At least while I'm still learning the ropes of the game. I'll do more interacting with real people eventually ^_^ Thanks tho!

nods not, this is cool... I agree and am glad for the opportunity! I'm glad the game gives you things to do like that, hoops to jump through. :) I'm cool with it ^_^

The best thing to do would be to get yourself off to Maia as mentioned above, to buy one.
You can sell the explo data to the engineer (or elsewhere) when you get back so it'll be worth it.

I'm in the same position as you with my alt and looking forward to the journey. It's a bit of rite of passage to visit the system (but thankfully not as necessary now Palin has moved), so check out the beacon and visit Obsidian Orbital if you're interested in E : D lore (don't forget to listen out for familiar voices at Obsidian Orbital). You might also get a visit from a peaceful galactic neighbour if you're lucky(y)

Attaboy! That's the right attitude!

Got to say I agree. Opened this thread up, saw a jolly roger and cutlass and thought 'oh yeah, here we go' .. then noticed a new player learning the ropes, aware of rebuys, rocking a Hauler! And thought yeah, this guy definitely gets it.

o7 out there and remember .. when you're combat rank deadly in an engineered FDL, I'm carrying nothing of any value at all!

LOL Oh I didn't even think of that... "Piratescribe" is my handle pretty much everywhere and I made the quill-enhanced jolly roger as kinda my personal logo, so I just used it here too and didn't think about it might peg me as a pirate or even a griefer! :O I came to this game because of the promise of cool exploration! :D (Though I like the idea of being a bounty hunter on the side :)

Yep, tis what Imma gonna do!
(Do the charts sell better to Farseer the engineer as opposed to just any base Cartography office?)

oh yeah, I've only just started skimming the surface of ED lore as I've been too focused so far on just remembering what my keyboard commands are LOL But I really want to get much more into the lore and RP! (I've started putting up in-character posts in Inara.) I dunno what this Obsidian thing is all about, but I'll check it out! Thanks!
