Been playing since launch, just hit combat elite.

Don't believe the hype, it'll never get there just from playing the game, grind baby grind.

combat elite means nothing except access to jamesons if you hadn't already. so it's a pure grind objective. i would expect a pure grind objective to be grind.

anyway, since it is actually just accumulation of credits, with the recent changes in payouts it just shrunk to about a quarter.

ironically, it's the only elite rank i have, i got it when payouts were about ... 20 times? lower than today, and it didn't even feel like a grind to me. everything is relative.

Combat Elite is based on number of kills, with a multiplier that is applied based on the rank of the pilot killed relative to your own at the time of the kill, not credit value. You could get combat Elite for killing cops or civilian ships that give no bounty at all.

Trade & exploration Elite are based (primarily or entirely) on Credits.

I got combat Elite first, mostly from CZ kills while building my little empire of dirt in 2015

Not quite, the main benefit--and main reason I finally did it--is that you get to stop worrying about XP split when using an SLF. Yay!

I think of it as a rich dad poor dad kind of situation- knowing what to do means success, whatever that means- is much easier to achieve. Now waiting for Oddessy and, hopefully, new goals.

Congratulations Commander! I'm within 25% myself and yes, the grind is real. So real in fact that when I hit 75% deadly I had to take a long break from combat, I was becoming blearly-eyed. By the way I'm doing it all in a HI RES.

Thanks! There were moments I was honestly unsure if I'd ever do it. I did about the last 15% at the CNB for the CG the last couple weeks.
