Extraction sites

I’m I the only one to notice the past couple of days the mixture of ships found in extraction zones has been limited to only small ships? Since giving up on mining months ago, bounty hunting has been where I have been making my money, yet the past days they have been completely void of anything bigger than a Vulture. Tried playing solo and in groups without any change.

are you flying a small ship by chance?

from recently spending a lot time in RES testing BGS effects of bountyhunting, my impression is, ship spawn is affected by shiptype you fly (not determined, but affected).

i could imagine, population having an effect, maybe even states, plus hidden stuff like wealth and such - are you at the same hunting grounds as previously?

(me on the other hand was very surprised this morning about a non Haz- non High, but standard Res lucky spawn - even got some condas, albeit not high ranked ones!)

I remember back when, as an Expert pilot inmy brand new Cobra MKIII, I'd go into a high Res site and seemingly see nothing but big(ger) ships - Condas, Cutters, Clippers, etc. Now, with my Dangerous NPC in my PvE MurderKrait, all I see is freakin' Eagles, DBXs, and the occasional FDS or FAS. It's rare I see anything bigger (though when I do see them, they come in bunches). TRollNG gonna troll...

I agree. Guess I just need to persevere and accept things as they are.

Very strange indeed. I'm not sure what more I can think of that hasn't already been covered? Maybe you just have a weird site that has been bgs impacted in some way, but that's quite a vague answer I'm afraid :(
One of those instances where I’ve been unlucky enough to have received the same side of the dice many times over. With luck I will have a better outcome tomorrow.

Yeah, I really am stuck for suggestions based on what you've tried mate. If I get crappy spawns, I normally find out and back in a couple will get a good one, like we discussed. Having said that, some res sites in system X seem better than others, even neighbors of the same type. So there must be something going on under the hood beyond simple rng, although I guess it is probably a hidden thing.

Good luck with trying again mate, let us know how you get on.

Ps - if you fancy something different, have you tried megaship scenarios? They are more intense and make for fun variety to res hunting. Gimme a reply if you want info on finding one that works as they depend heavily on the bgs states.

I have heard of megaship scenarios before but not actively looked into them much as been happy with my EZ’s. With that said, I’m always up for experiencing different instance challenges which are engaging.

I'm doing (Normal) Res sites at the moment. Haven't done them for a while, so this is recent.
On drop in, and for a fair while after, the wanted ships are smaller. However, over time, the bigger ships begin to spawn.
I tend to stay in-instance until my MC's are empty, so my sessions are fairly extended - all the little ones pop with beams :)

They are fun. The easiest type to get used to are defend against pirates, so you side with the owner. (always the controlling faction for the system). They will last about ten minutes or so, and you get 3 waves of pirates come attack you and either try to rob the megaship or damage it. Choose a high security system first time as they can get a bit hairy even if you're experienced otherwise.

The main trick I've found to getting them to spawn is to have the controlling faction in boom, but there are various other states that work too. This rule is about 90%+, but jump out and back in if one doesn't spawn.

So you drop on one like any station. Fly around and crash into it a bit, or just behave like a teenager on a skateboard and the pirates will arrive - I say this because otherwise you can sit there playing with your winky for a few minutes otherwise. But right conditions, and those devils will come.

Once they arrive, you get to pick a side like with a CZ. So pick defend to begin with. Different types of megaships will spawn more pirates too - I get the best with haulers, but they are all good normally, prison ships aside.

Kill everything that shoots at you. Be careful of hitting the megaship, as it gets cranky, and often the cops go nuts for no reason too (don't hold me responsible for any hilarious accidents!).

After 3 waves it ends and you can go out and back in, again like a CZ. The big money ships are the deadly condas and pythons and they normally do the hatchbreaking, so can be like fish in a barrel. Bearing in mind you might get up to 20 ships taking a fancy to you!

On average, at a hauler in boom, I can probably get 7-10m just for the controlling faction in a ten minute scenario. Kws for an extra 30%. Sometimes a bit more, rarely less.

Let me know if I've missed anything out, or pm me sometime in the week to wing up. I hope you enjoy them though, I think they are excellent fun, especially in wing, and really are a totally different thing to res hunting.

Have fun mate!

Megaship/Installation sites are definitely tons of fun. Some points to add to what Bottom Hat said:
  • Jumping back and forth sometimes led to broken instance for me (same is partially true for CZs), so you can get message of the attack, but if you join, ship count will be stuck at 0. I found best way to reset the instance was to fly some distance from the object (~10km) and re-log.
  • Yeah, you can wait somewhere up to 15 or even 30 minutes, which is hilarious. Although being too rowdy sometimes led to hostility towards me. Not a good thing, unless you're on pirate side.
  • Also, as I pointed in another thread, enemy ships can actually spawn right inside those objects, so neither turrets/friendlies nor you can kill it, and if even a part of that ship sticks out of the wall, firing with pinpoint accuracy at it will be considered as a hostile action....
  • Had few very funny bugs, like 3rd wave ended, and there's last ship to kill left. I flew for about 15 minutes all around, looking under every rock, but there was nobody else hostile. So, I decided to give up and ordered my SLF to dock. Once he docked - boom, mission complete - all hostiles are neutralized. :ROFLMAO:

I don't know who made that spaghetti, but they definitely need to untangle it a little bit...
