ANNOUNCEMENT Hello World! Issues with the new forum? Please post here.

I like the new layout on Android - looks simple & uncluttered.

However, not so keen on white& blue colour scheme. I may have missed a trick but how do you change the theme on mobile browsers?

I requested the desktop site in my browser and changed to the red and black theme (very nice) but it changed back when in mobile formatting

Nope, took me a sec - it's here (little Sheriff's Badge icon) and it doesn't pop up any more, it takes you to another page

Wow... That icon has the same color as the bar it is in on my side of the internets. I now have to look for another styleheet.
Anyway, thx for the reply :)

Love the fact that I can now see which forums have dev replies and can even jump to that particular post. :)
And if there is more than one devs post in specific thread just click logo again and it will show next.

Obvious, but i was confused how it worked first. :)

The orange is too flashy and distracting. Especially the border lines for the posts. On the opposite end the text is too plain and in the context becomes hard to read. My attention is captured by all the colorful unimportant details and not the actual text as it should be. I feel like I have to put extra efforts to read the text.

Maybe we could get a "Dev post list" now that we have a "Posted today" and the "Frontier" logo on threads with dev answers?
It's on my list of things to add at some point.

Does rep still work? I can't seem to find the functionality.
(I also have the feeling this is an incredibly stupid question...)
It works... the icon is there, but it's well, yeah... not very identifiable.

I am finding the Frontier (constrained) theme OK on the eyes.
Ah, you've found the themes that I just added!

I just cant get it to work. I uploaded it like 10 times now :p. Its there as my current signature picture but it just doesent show up in a post...
PM me the image that you want to use. Will see if i can override it from my end of things. :)

I'm using the Official Elite Theme and it is far too wide, it doesn't need to stretch across the whole screen.

Is there a way you can do a constrained view of this one as well as the Frontier one please? Other than that it'll take a bit of getting used to but it looks good.

*Edit* Hehe that was quick, I must have caught it between uploads :)

Forum search is broken

Nice new style to the forum but alas the search function seems to be broken, unless 'Cobra' really has no matches in the forums?! All words seem to return nil results.

Hi there, with the upgrade from vBulletin 3.8 to vbulletin 4.2, it has required us to perform a full rebuild of the post content. At last check, that is still being processed. :)

I get a couple of javascript error in console. This one might be the source of a couple of them:

[ blocked] The page at 'https://forums.frontier.co.uk/newreply.php?p=902617&noquote=1' was loaded over HTTPS, but ran insecure content from 'http://forums.frontier.co.uk/clientscript/vbulletin-core.js?v=422': this content should also be loaded over HTTPS.

As said, vbulletin-core.js is loaded over http while the rest is loaded over https. Funny chrome blocks this silently now. In the past most browsers shouted it out loud in a 'mixed content' warning.

I am happy we finally have a dev tracker. Not sure if this was in the previous iteration of the forums. If it was, I didn't find it.

Hi Brett,

Michael Brooks's avatar is so wide that when you view someone's Activity who has him as a friend, you can't read the first few letters of each line :D

Well. This will take some getting used to, though I'm liking it overall. Considering how huge the change is, the fact that my first reaction isn't "they changed it, now it sucks" is actually rather more positive than it sounds... it is easy to grow comfortable with something and start hating when it's taken away ;) I do have some feedback though.

Elite theme
1) The transparency seems a bit on the high side, and can distract from the actual text. The visual effect is nice, but it could stand to be toned down just a little.
2) I would prefer if the thread page navigation and forum quick navigation were buttons you could click to pop up the menu rather than a mouse-over function. They tend to pop up when I don't want them to while I writing replies. Also, the "Top" button also pops up the forum navigation menu, which I suspect it shouldn't, and similarly, all the page buttons within a thread (First + numbers) also pop up the thread page navigation menu.
3) Using the forum quick navigation from within a thread to go to the forum that thread is in, only takes you of the first page of the thread you're in. For example, clicking the quick navigation link for "Forum Support and Suggestions" while browsing this thread does not take you back to that forum, but to the first post of this thread.
4) The orange feels a bit too harsh, looking almost red when seen next to all the black/dark grey. Maybe go with the softer version of the "Elite" orange used in the game interface background? Plus, that would match my signature image ;)
5) The lines separating the signature panel from the message text in posts are effectively invisible against the background image. Reducing transparency might help, but I suspect the need to be a bit brighter if you want them to be seen. Otherwise, might as well remove them.
6) The reputation button is easy to miss, and also takes you to a different page. Making you leave the page seems a disincentive to giving reputation. The old popup method would be preferable.
7) All posts seem to be padded with a couple extra blank lines at the bottom, artificially making them taller than they need to be - See the space between the last line of this post and the 'Last edited' notice at the bottom.

I'm sure there's more, but that's the stuff I noticed in the first hour. For all that though, great effort! A change of this magnitude will undoubtedly take some tweaking before it's all smooth.
