Did you buy an Idris this year?Annual check-in. Still not released then eh? Back to lurk...
Less than 2.8%Honestly though, who actually thinks all of SC and SQ42 are ever getting full releases? As in, let's not pretend SC will get all it promised fulfilled, it is a Chris Roberts (-Tm) game after all, you know it will be gutted to bare bones just before getting thrown into the hands of customers with nary a "fine, here, now leave me alone".
Let's just say a basic, online space game with combined space flight and FPS and actual things to do, quests, w/e.
For SQ42, available to play offline in its completion.
Like, honestly. What percentage chance of these two things happening?
My.. an optimist.Less than 2.8%
Thats kind of philosophical point "does cause justify means", I'd say that depends on cause and means. Now we know that in many kinds of projects people get nice personal gains, and not always by most morally upright means. Usually those are ignored if project after all succeeds. When it comes to lying and deceiving, I remember one EU politico during Eurocrisis saying something like "when things start getting rough, you must lie". Not that I think SC will ever succeed in implementing all that has been advertised, or even being quality game if it ever comes out from permanent alpha. But if such miracle happens, then well backers got what they paid for, though of course very very late, what there then really is to complain about? Chris got mansion? Well yes, though if SC ever would be all those things it has been advertised Chris would get that mansion anyways.I m kinda surprised this needs explaining and you are of course correct. The statement "cause doesnt justify the means" is known to us for I dont know how long. Why do some people argue as if it doesnt hold any value? CiG today is mostly critizised for its actions we have on record, that we know about. No result of what they do will negate or justify what they did so far....some results might offer an explanation to certain things but all the lying we know about....thats going to continue to be lies and deceit, no matter if Star Citizen turns out to be a smashing success or not.
The project is going in the same direction as Shroud of the Avatar. Difference is SOTA, while in a sorry state, has been released. The result is there for all to see: a crap-level MMO, and the promised single player experience is nowhere to be seen. The project has gone "free2play" (with the usual in-game shop where you have to pay $$$ to actually play the whole game...) and has been sold to a completely unknown Polish company.Like, honestly. What percentage chance of these two things happening?
Well as really working games, I think very little chances of that. As some barebone barely working minimum viable product? Maybe, if they think that pulling the plug and saying "sorry can't be done" will lead to legal consequences (say Chris loosing his mansion).Honestly though, who actually thinks all of SC and SQ42 are ever getting full releases? Current number of open positions is 55.
CR spent years writing cheques his rear end couldn't cash.
If backers get miracle, aka they got everything Chris promised to them I don't see any problem. Thats whole point. Not that I think that being very likely outcome.Disagree. People gave CIG money based on what CIG said.
Every time CR said yes to something, someone gave CIG more money with the expectation that CIG would deliver on it.
It doesn't matter that some will say "Well, obviously CIG were never going to deliver on everything they said yes to"
Someone, somewhere, gave CIG money because CR said yes.
If CR had instead said "maybe, no promises", then there would be no issue. But there are over 100 episodes of 10FTC where CR said yes to just about everything, not to mention of course stretch goals and every other time CR said the game would have something.

As long as they can milk the cow, they will, it’s Stockholm syndrome all over again.Well as really working games, I think very little chances of that.
