Did you buy Odyssey on Steam? If you didn't (like me, only bought the base game + Horizons on Steam), the update is two-step: 1) Update the game via Steam. This should be a download about 1.7GB in size. 2.) Open the launcher Steam installed. It is usually found under <steam_library>/steamapps/common/Elite Dangerous and named EDLaunch.exe. Start it and it should appear with golden text instead of Horizon blue. In the list, Odyssey should appear as the topmost entry now. Select "install" and there you go.

Thats's how I upgraded two machines by now. I bought Odyssey Alpha from the Frontier Store. Don't know how it works if you bought everything from Steam, but might be worth a try.

Performance a tiny bit crunchy .. suspecting that might be server calls at this point.

Am I missing something or is it no longer possible to fly your ship (or walk about stations) with your visor / helmet on? It's a little thing I know but old habits die hard.

For JWE fans, think I just overhead Finch Cabot's great great great (great great great) grandson talking to his mate in the bar.

Its a valid work around for somebody who does not want to play dlc that they just forked £30ish quid for indeed. Plus, once consoles get odyssey all graphics including new UI is gonna get implemented i to horizons which makes it a TEMPORARY work around. What You failed to realize from my post is that I am asking (most likely as many if not all) for a permament solution. Refardless, I will play Odyssey as is now

He probably does not realise that if you launch Horizons on PC for the old UI ,cannot play Odyssey's content, so it's not a valid workaround at all.

They announced server maintenance and downtime for a while now. It would be sensible enough NOT to take any missions and wrap up all outstanding matters before that. But who am I to judge hahaha

Hello Commanders, hello Frontier,

first of all i was really forward looking to this update and i´m happy to bought Odyssey.
Yesterday the game was unplayable for me. Disconnects, but Server Status was ONLINE. The new UI is a horror. If you go to the galaxy map, there´s a chaos....cannot describe this. It is difficult to see here improvements....all much more complicate than before the update.
My question, what´s with the ship radar? in the Videos from the alpha the radar looked much more realistic and better. Now it looks like in Horizons? Did you cancel this radar and cockpit improvements?

For me Now is the DLC Release a Great Fail there have now Destroying game Play in Both Horzion And Ody. lol Mega Launch Fail i hear from many Friends there have Refund the DLC in Steam now.
If i can i will give Back My LEP too
is a shame we still in a Alpha Game and we bying a Full DLC and it is a Alpha . Shame you Fdev for this

So how Come consoles dont get the update at the same time as PC but we still get the bugs??????? My carrier upkeep has doubled overnight. Sort this out please.

Finally managed to get it loaded. Nice GFX, but such huge FPS drops making it very clunky to play.

Any tips on speeding things up?

Reduce graphics settings from Ultra? Start at the minimum in-game graphics detail settings and work up. Supersampling seems to be the main one to have a major effect.
