ANNOUNCEMENT Odyssey Update 2021

if only everybody still had windows 7, kekeke. no really, i dont read the all unimportant fps, i just play, do i get dips and stutters and mini freezes *shrug, but i can play. for those who cant, if 10 allows it, set the compatibility to 7, or go through the linux emulator i heard 10 has and add wine through that.

Yeah I hate to admit it (wait no i dont), FDev has had an atrocious reputation for game dev since, well...since Elite first launched. It's no surprise then that they stopped getting awarded licensed projects like Jurassic Park.
They have an F1 licensed product in the works. They are also spending most of their dev time on the cash cow planet games. I would not mind so much is they were charging $10 for an expansion but when you are asking AAA money you need to be at that level.

I was getting Orange Sidewinder. I finally killed my save and started a new commander (yikes). But it worked. Not saying do that, but I managed to get into Ody and play.
Many thanks for the tip friend but I've spent 3 years getting that commander to the point where I actually felt a sense of accomplishment out of what I'd achieved. I'll wait for tech support to get back to me :)

Really Frontier?, after all the crap we the people that payed for the game and the new DLC have been suffering since yesterday (well in my case today because of the EPIC-Frontier non-sense), this is all you are going to share with us?

Probably just a hotfix for something menial like a UI spelling error.

I highly doubt they are hotfixing a severely broken codebase.

Looks like Frontier is going to have to work overtime. Never before have I seen such a devastating number of 'thumbs down' and 'Not Recommended' for reviews on Steam. I feel sorry for David Braben, who perhaps had his arm twisted by Stockholders and Investors to release EDO too early.

You know what my problem is, I started playing this game not soo long ago, Im not an older player from 2015. But before I knew it I was hooked. Trying to learn everything, play with my squadron, get money, but a better ship, rank up, learn about engineers, doing my first upgrade to the FSD, doing my first long trip (5000LY for me it was long and very pleasent), etc. And then out of the nowhere I learn about Odyssey, and been able to walk and see your ship without using the camera app, and I was happy, really happy and hoped for this moment to see my Anaconda like she deserves..... and then evetyhing falls apart for a not finished DLC, Why did they launch a product that was only ready for Beta testing.?Why not wait another month?, Why not fix the performance issues (not everyone can own an RTX 3080 to play this game, it was working find with Horizon on a GTX 1060 or lower)?

Why did they rushed the launch?, Was the point.... I should have read and watched more Odyssey Alpha videos (if only had the time back then), so I knew that I should not have buyed the DLC yesterday.

Im very freaking sad, I just wana board my ship and go kill some pirates, or transport Gold and stuff, or just go far away and get my name on a Planet.

I don't need a broken FPS, no one does, no one will ever want it.

strange, they must finally add carriers so that we would have our own mobile stations and buy stuff like this,

Ohhh wait................................
Can't afford a carrier. Only have two billion credits. They're all broken anyway, apparently.

Also, no Carrier dealerships in my local vicinity.

I mean look at the Steam page for Odyssey. It's Mostly Negative right now. That alone is going to severely hurt their bottom line, which in turn will anger their shareholders.

Shareholders, who I might add, are responsible for forcing FDev to release EDO despite it not being anywhere near ready for launch.
I agree with everything you say. I don't know whether or not any shareholders pressured FDev regarding Odyssey; I'd like to think not but tbh I've no idea.

Speaking as an FDev shareholder myself, I AM angry at this: it shows FDev in such a poor light. Now this isn't a one-off; as we have seen with the Fleet Carrier update and 2019's bug fix patches (which introduced a whole new raft of bugs), this botched launch/update situation happens time and time again.

Anyone at FDev care to comment? Why can't you successfully launch an update or DLC?
