A working theory is it happens in regions of space. So if you find one, nearby systems seem to also stock them.

As @Ydiss says, it's regions of space. I've now hit a sparse one, as you can see from my lack of constant posts.

Also, don't just check stations, as far as I can tell the best deals are on planetary settlements, and better on small outposts than on bigger orbitals.

Yeh that's in line with what we've found so far, definitely. If there's one in an outpost you'll often (always so far) find one on the planetary settlements too so always worth checking them all.

my need to find some g3 with good affixs led to a 4g planet... in a shuttle, so im stuck til next fix(edh/ed load didnt work ), so use your own ships incase of going someplace like g 129-21(or any system with a really close planet to a sun)
