New Planet Tech is KILLER of Exploration (all terrain is tiling/repeating/not procedural/random)

If the new planet tech is currently borked and needs fixing I'm totaly fine with this, but unless I'm missing something FD has not said they will try to fix it, or that anything is wrong with it at all.
The issue really is that the new tech is not producing Horizons-like, wild, unrealistic surfaces that people loved to play with. They might try and do some tweaking to mitigate the current Infinite Monkey issue if we are lucky, and there's some optimization that still needs sorting out. Some of the issues that been linked here, especially regarding textures, have been accepted in the Issue Tracker, so effectively FD Has said something (and in the latest Update notes too.)

There is no way they don't know this is an issue. My guess is when they publish their roadmap of issues on the 4th you will find it then. until then they are heads down troubleshooting where it went wrong.

You knew what I meant
Actually no. And how could I? I can't read anybodys mind to miraculously know what they "meant" but didn't actually say. And in this context it makes a huge difference if the planets are RNG generated or procedurally generated. So please don't put the blame on me for your inaccuracy.

The planets are worse not better 😣
I believe you... >snigger<

Not!

But I know what you're going to say: It's not Horizons!

I agree with you in that some of the things we had in Horizons were ridiculous, but once they put them in there, they could not take them out... like that moon that orbited so quickly you could sit there and watch it do a full orbit in 2 minutes... Way below the Roche limit, but because it got in there, and got attention, they left it in.
Have you been to Mitterand Hollow? Apparently that's been Odysseyed as well. A friend went there yesterday and the transitions from light to dark that were so rapid in Horizons are no longer there (at all).

Hmmm.... I want to believe that
Some planets look tremendously good in Odyssey, some way off. At its best, Odyssey's planet tech way surpasses what Horizon managed to do, but it is very clear Odyssey's planet tech is very, very broken. It really is in a state where they should not have released it.

If in the near future, FDevs will come out with a good news: "we fixed the planet tech, look at the improved planets now guys", I wonder how the White Knights will react?

A: What was the point of that - planet tech was already perfect, waste of time - should have focused on other things.
B: Wow - thanks Frontier, this is awesome!

:)

We're all on the same side guys, just some of us aren't satisfied by what we got yet.
