Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 2 | Horizons Update

The descend to a surface port was all the way 60 FPS, where it previously tanked to around 40. On the surface it was around 60 as well. Inside a surface concourse still hits pretty hard, but no more red numbers for me.

I wonder how burning rooms do now, not sure if I'm ready for a re-test 😅
Going to give Ultra @ 1920x1080 a go, and edit my post as I go along (all figures in FPS):
In space: 120+
FSS: 180 (First bug - scanned a gas giant - it showed as black circle :( )
Descending to Atmospheric Planet: 90-110
On Foot: 80+
In Hangar (walking): 100+
Inside Station: 65-106 (50 looking through glass)

It might be time to try out VR again - it may possibly be playable?

EDIt: Had set resolution incorrectly - thought I was on 2560x1440 - thought the FPS was too good to be true. Still happy though. VR here I come.

thanks for all te fixes, however, i'm a bit surprised you don't fix more things concerning planets
- small & medium assets view distance (LODs), everything is still poping too late from ship view.

  • height map generation distance, the landscape is generating as we move forward.
  • texture & relief poping when flying (no need to go fast, flying low altitude resulting in most cases in terrain poping just in front of the ship) :/
  • shadows on the surface, whitch are vanishing, poping, changing while we are in ship
  • soft mountains, still no sharp edges, everything seems very very smoothed
  • streched textures, especially in canyons, when "mountain wall" angle is almost 90°
  • and here i'm not talking about the totally broken planets where textures and reliefs are completely wrong (repeating, low quality, 100% flat etc...)

i know everything is taking time, but we need more than, 'we are aware of....'... i also hope that your roadmap presentation tomorow will be really clear and finger pointing for all the very confusing points.

07 fly safe.

Sorry but watching my favorite streamer I ain't touching Odyssey until I see he gets performace inprovements. I knew since the Alpha that Odyssey would be a mess and that there weren't going to be performance improvements on it. Until I see that ED is a non starter for me.
They have improved performance with this patch. A lot of people are reporting a boost in performance / FPS. But sadly the reality is that the game is still just a singleplayer broken mess. Or a sandbox where you can see your friends and not much else. It's kind of the lockdown equivalent of life.

Is this blank screen necessary while outfitting below deck?

So much for Distant Worlds. What an unmitigated disaster this expansion is. Discoveries and special locations meaningless. Can I have my money back?

Any change to the gamma/brightness of space/skybox?

Is everything still dark as **** ?

Not even going to bother to launch it in VR if those are the same

Thanks

With all the different performance figures being claimed for largely similar rigs I would be much more inclined to do my own checking.

Logged back at a Settlement (military base) with Goliath drone and lots of guards and staff.

For the majority of the containers and lockers (open and locked) that I checked, all were empty. I thought this was fixed in a previous release or hotfix???

Well done to the development team. Another impressive list of fixes and improvement. I look forward to seeing if any of them actually make a difference.

Two weeks since launch, and by my count we are close to 400 fixes/changes. This 'beta' period is certainly catching a lot of issues - it's a good FDev decided to give us this beta release to test and iron out all the wrinkles before they go live with this full price DLC. Just image the backlash and review bombing that would have happened if they had been mad enough to call that 19th of May release - the full release.

Does this mean I'll be able to see indoors in some settlement missions now? Particularly when the lights aren't on indoors. My suit light wasn't working.
