Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 2 | Horizons Update

This screams "Odyssey is an Alpha!" which of course we all know is true. It tells me that the finished version of Odyssey won't be out until sometime next year. One does not need a "map" to walk across the street.

Next year may be a bit optimistic. We've still got the console release to live through yet, and I wouldn't be surprised if this whole PC fiasco is repeated there with a borked game for those platforms coming at the end of this year apparently. This could be long haul fix, and we may not see a stable version of EDO on the PC and console until 2023. Horizons, although its streets ahead of EDO in stability, still has legacy bugs and issues going back years. EDO will be no different.

What's you rig?
Ryzen 5 2600 and RTX 2060 on stock settings, 16GB of RAM clocked at 3066MHz, game is on an M.2 NVMe drive in PCIe mode.

In case it's of any use - I now get the following FPS:

CPU:i7:10700K
GPU:RTX 2060 Super
32GB RAM

That's interesting indeed! You have a much better CPU than I, and twice the amount of RAM. I'm also using only a regular 2060. Still, glad you can get such (relatively) good framerates. I'm eager to play in VR again when it's feasible.

Is that it? Really?

How about fixing all the Odyssey crap that has leached its way into Horizons and is messing up the missions?
I hear ya. But I think maybe they are leaving Horizons alone while the Odyssey "stuff" sorts out...just a theory though. Its a safe haven for me at least and likely many others with difficulties. At least I can play on Horizons as before. I don't do many missions...what's messed up with Horizon missions?

will try VR tomorrow, and paste the results.
Daft question - how do you get frame rates from VR - can you see it in headset, or just on the Monitor projection of it ?

Here's one:

I acquired a fine. Whatever. Fines happen.

I returned to the station where I got the fine, landed anonymously, and tried to pay the fine. "No fines detected." Went to an interstellar factors at a different station. "No fines detected."

Seems there is disconnect between the database and the game.

UPDATE: Seems this issue has been fixed, now.

I was expecting a bug fix for this. I'm seeing a lot of Odyssey stations listed in Horizons (on PS4).
Some missions are pointing to these new stations, but of course, they are not actually there.
Sometimes I have to sod about going through the system map each time to make sure a mission's destination really is going to a Horizons station.

Update:
Just noticed some odd noises when you walk and repeated crouch ... sounds like a squelching noise.

Also, no difference to frame rates in stations/ground. Still 29-53 in stations (1080p GTX1080Ti i7-6700K all stock values, latest NVIDIA driver)

I7 980 X 6x 3.33GHz
GTX 1060 6 GB
16GB Ram

I am playing on low settings + blur deactivated with a resolution of 2560x1080 (21:9 monitor)
30FPS in Stations, 20-30 in settlements, 10 when looking at fire, 5 when hovering over settlements in my Alliance chieftain

Yeah... this does not put a smile on my face!

PS: Getting scammed by a company is also not to my liking!

For people not seeing any FPS improvements, could you try with V-Sync turned off?

I'm thinking that if V-Sync is on (and given a constant time to draw each frame), the only way you'll see better FPS is when the game can render at 60 FPS+. If it's now capable of rendering at 50 FPS you'll still see 30 because of V-Sync.

I know turning off V-Sync will show tearing, but just interested in what people get if they try this.

Thanks! Can you also add something to tell us which friend is in which system on the galaxy map please? I see loads of friends icons in my area of the bubble, but no where does it tell me which friend is in the system marked with a friend marker.

Also we need to know who the owner of a fleet carrier is on the system map, this information seems to have been lost since Horizons.

FDev could you please give us something like this? This is what we need, not the number of engineered modules or info on multicrew
