Ah, but each is entwined with the other and each dependent on the other. And watch the cards as they move around. What is required today isn't what is required tomorrow. But have trust in CIG, believe what they tell you. iCache was never the blocker to adding new systems. It was always server meshing. But keep an open mind, because tomorrow it might be something else that is the blocker. Then history needs to be retconned, because server meshing was never going to be the tech that allowed new systems to be added. Its just a stepping stone. What is actually needed is qCache. What? You've never heard of qCache? Ah, that's a new term we've just created to encompass some blah de blah blah blah blah pass the collection plate around again, time for another ship sale, what were we talking about, oh right, have you seen these teabags we have procedurally generated?
Apologies, you're relatively new to the CIG scene, but some of us have been watching this bait and switch show for many years now. We've seen CIG do it time and again. For newer people its easy to see the current state of things and CIG's current statements and take it all based on the context they see it in. What they are missing is the years of CIG doing the same, over and over and over again.
Pyro is coming. Look! Here is a demo of jumping between systems. Oh, wait, we can't do that, we need (tech) first. Here, look, here are crabs on a planet on Pyro. What? Oh no, Pyro isn't coming yet, we need (tech) first.
And for older backers who still trust CIG, i can only presume its a parallel to battered wife syndrome. "He promised me he wouldn't hit me again" as Chris returns from another meeting drunk out of his skull on fidelity and proceeds to make even more promises of what will be.
