People who apparently live paycheck to paycheck also need to buy ships!

As a side note, guy is a YouTuber with 13k subs.
I am just in awe of how a buyer is proposing a seller ways for the seller to exploit and monetize even more other buyers.

icache will certainly do nothing visible at first so no. icache is mainly needed for server meshing and better cache service, it's a silent service.

Will you eat a sock at the Pyro release ?

Ah, so, CIG could in effect claim its been implemented, even if they have done nothing, and say it is doing something.

May I introduce you to an old favourite of mine.

Seriously. How is it possible that they still cannot maintain a player session across servers. This is the only thing that prevents loading screens jump points.
Icache will maintain sessions between instances, objects positions, etc but doesn't manage instances. It's the server meshing work to manage instances.
Icache alone will not permit to add Pyro.

And Icache alone can't add more entities in actual Stanton, Stanton is at max capacity. It needs SM to divide the actual instance in multiple smaller ones, afterthat, CIG should be able to add more entities in Stanton.

You are correct. For some patches, icache will have no visible effects. CIG can do nothing and lie about it if they want.

It's like when they said they switched to 64bits position. Perhaps it's a lie and the alpha still use 32bits positions.

So a drop of 11.5% and 38% respectively on last year.

I wonder if CRoberts will be wheeled out to make an appearance/announcement and try and make up the deficit ? ;)
CiG is flexible in this regard and Roberts already announced in the past that less funding simply results in less progress so it wont affect the projects development overall ^^

I am impressed at how long your hate boner for rexilla has lasted. better than any other medication for ED out there.

The faithful love to use the word hate don't they? Its such a powerful word. Is it not possible to have a dislike or distrust of something without it being hate? I think so. Maybe you don't

However, i will say I have a deep distaste for dishonest people. I even hate myself when i find myself lying for any reason. And we all do it to some extent or another. Whether its just coming up with an excuse as to why we haven't cleaned the house to our partners or something bigger. "No darling, i wasn't playing on the computer for the last 8 hours while you were at work. I had a load of work to do!" or something else.

But when someone goes out of their way to line their pockets by enticing others to give money to something that they really don't care about, except for the money it generates them, then yeah, you might say i get a bit of a hate boner. And this isn't related to just Rexshilla, it relates to anyone like him. In my career i've encountered people who do the same. Willing to say or do whatever to make the money, regardless of how ethical it is.

As I said, my working theory was that Rex was on a paycheck from his "employer" (CIG). I mean, ok, i could grok that. But, if Mike is right, he wasn't even shilling for CIG because he was being paid by them. He didn't give two hoots about SC really. What he was doing was lining his pockets via an even less ethical means.

If you want to defend that sort of behaviour, well, be my guest. But at least then come out and say it, instead of attacking the person who is reporting what someone else said (especially since i added appropriate disclaimers).

What are we talking about?

SOCS, OCS, iCache and Server Meshing are all different things.

Ah, but each is entwined with the other and each dependent on the other. And watch the cards as they move around. What is required today isn't what is required tomorrow. But have trust in CIG, believe what they tell you. iCache was never the blocker to adding new systems. It was always server meshing. But keep an open mind, because tomorrow it might be something else that is the blocker. Then history needs to be retconned, because server meshing was never going to be the tech that allowed new systems to be added. Its just a stepping stone. What is actually needed is qCache. What? You've never heard of qCache? Ah, that's a new term we've just created to encompass some blah de blah blah blah blah pass the collection plate around again, time for another ship sale, what were we talking about, oh right, have you seen these teabags we have procedurally generated?

Apologies, you're relatively new to the CIG scene, but some of us have been watching this bait and switch show for many years now. We've seen CIG do it time and again. For newer people its easy to see the current state of things and CIG's current statements and take it all based on the context they see it in. What they are missing is the years of CIG doing the same, over and over and over again.

Pyro is coming. Look! Here is a demo of jumping between systems. Oh, wait, we can't do that, we need (tech) first. Here, look, here are crabs on a planet on Pyro. What? Oh no, Pyro isn't coming yet, we need (tech) first.

And for older backers who still trust CIG, i can only presume its a parallel to battered wife syndrome. "He promised me he wouldn't hit me again" as Chris returns from another meeting drunk out of his skull on fidelity and proceeds to make even more promises of what will be.

Star Citizen - the only game where the future is certain and the past is unknown.

Not what i was driving at but ok :)

It's SOCS you talk about, not OCS. SOCS is vital (load/unload entities server side when out of view) and needed too for a SM to work.

It is now. But go back in time, that wasn't always the story being pedelled to the masses.

Again, SC, the only game where the future is certain and the past in unknown, at least in certain circles.

The Wallets Who Walked Into Doors*

*Which Still Aren't Working Properly

Tasteless joking aside. This is an as of yet unreleased game where people are too ashamed to save up for virtual spaceships yet ask for yet more opportunities to spend money on virtual spaceships. Their business model stinks.

No, their business model works. Their ethics are a different matter.
