Arx for all the running around I have done, thank you. I do wonder, will we ever see David Braben making a video update in future again? Not that I don't like you or the community team, but it would be nice to see his enjoyment again when we talks or plays Elite.

Does this mean that once Update 5 drops that there will be no further optimisation on PC until Consoles are ready to receive Odyssey?
My GPU is runnig at 101.5% power usage constantly in Odyssey... Yet framerates are low...

I'm pretty sure that

"...including incremental performance issues for specific circumstances and/or system configurations" means "while making no attempt to correct the massive underlying problems that affect everyone."

they declared it a finished product then released it in a heavily bugged state - this is a moment where they NEED backlash so this doesn't happen again. history has proven that if they don't receive backlash, bugs will go unpatched for years and they'll think it's acceptable for future releases
Uhm. Yes. there was never any backlash to things FD did. Sure.
You're new here, right?!?

Spoiler: backlash rage does not help. Really. It doesn't. Ask a professional if you don't believe me.

Thanks for the roadmap.

I assume this first section means that Odyssey isn't expected to be in a full release quality state (with all performance issues and bugs fixed) until console release?

Dear Mr. Ant,
Odyssey has been in full release quality ever since the first alpha released. However, as a courtesy to our valued customers and supporters, we decided to further fiddle with our code a little so that we can offer a slightly improved experience. Once the console versions release, we are doing some adaption to 30fps gameplay. This will enable owners of low end GPUs such as a RTX 3090 to play the game in glorious 30FPS as well. We are sure, your 2080 Ti creates at least 7fps, which is more than enough for reasonable gameplay.

best regards

ok, that's a great, funny joke. now please give me a road map.

Nice to see some sort of a plan other than triaging fires.

What's disappointing is monthly updates which you'd expect supercruise news to do by default this shouldn't be new or news. Also, in the patch notes the list of Known Issues is hilariously short which seems to suggest minor bugs will be buried moving forward.

Can or will Frontier provide an issue tracker that actually works and allow us to specify more than 6 issues are important? In addition give us proper visibility on timescale?

"While we do always try to give as clear a vision for the future as possible, such as Horizons or Beyond season roadmaps, we also must accept that this alone has not hit the mark."

It's not a vision players want, they want visibility and clear acknowledgement of problems, and timelines for corrections. They've been sold an incomplete product as admitted by the content of this roadmap, and are quite rightly upset.

There's a history of leaving bugs and bad UIs and players quite rightly don't want any forgotten after this beta-not-beta fiasco.

Thats it ?
Thats the roadmap ?

Looking great guys, I know you put in a lot of work so far. I sincerely hope and pray that the UI changes allow the galaxy map to return to Horizon style functionality, optional works fine for me. You guys nailed the Horizons UI, seriously, it was perfect, or close to it. I know one improvement turns into 30 changes in a matter of hours or days, but not all those steps were forwards. Taking a little time to ponder the changes made, and the reaction, will allow more clarity.
I know you folks have totally every drop of talent needed to make this game incredible, you just need to see the way to go to get there. And the way there with the galaxy map was not with this mis-step, there's lots of great ideas in there, but this implementation was a bold step in the wrong direction. A step back, and putting the good ideas in place in better ways. I have faith you can do it.

I did read the content of the roadmap - which was why I framed the question that way as I didn't see mention of incremental updates following Update 5:

Which reads to me that the console release will see 'final' optimisation on console release.

We'll have to see what is achieved in the next 3 Updates in performance, there may be huge strides between now & then.
Exactly. People saying its going to be a disaster, just have no idea how well the optimisations are going to be after update 5 goes live.
