These forums are so predictable, personally I wonder how we have so much people here that clearly dislike anything Fdev does or does not, shouldn't they play games from companies that offer better service for them? I mean before Odyssey was announced there was this "shallow game, I'm fed up, game is dying/doomed, no new content..." When Odyssey was announced, then new type of whining started "Why it takes so long, I wanna play it NOW...SERIOUSLY Fdev"...and that lasted about untill Alpha phase. When Alpha ended even then people whined why Odyssey was not immediately released after that. Okay it eventually got released, with more or less serious bugs. Now there is of course huge outrage "HOW THEY DARE TO RELEASE STUFF LIKE THAT" "I'm gonna refund, and post damning review, and spam all the social media...and so on and on."...okay if this stuff is not going to kill game, lets fast forward year or two...Fdev puts out new DLC..."Odyssey was best ever, this new DLC is buggy mess, lets review bomb this to oblivion....HOW they DARE to publish this kind of rubbish, worst game developers ever"
It's not fault of the community if:
a) odyssey was released in a Beta stage (while published as finished product)
b) the second expansion was 6 years ago;
I wouldn't call expansion what fdev did in the middletime because they were well remunerated by the Skin.
So don't blame community but blame Fdev for not investing enough resources in Elite.
obviously these are the fanboy comments that everything FDEV does is correct. They invented the forums just to receive complaints and advice. How nice if there were only positive comments and with only ultra happy players with a mediocre product. we have said this several times why we still play elite. We do it because it is the only one of its kind. This doesn't mean being fooled.
I will be egoistic now, but this is how I see it.
Frack your refund, and money of all who make such a drama of EDO release and want it all fixed NOW,
because they preordered or ordered before waiting for reviews,
an expansion to game that had EVERY previous expansions/updated releases botched.
You haven't done your homework.
t's not even defending FD,
I will restraint myself from writing what I think about their attitude because it would be censored anyway.
The bottom line is:
IF FD uses "newbies" money to fix things
and keep ED afloat and alive for next several years - I can be nothing but pleased,
because this is my favorite game, unfortunately released by a "doomed" company.
Even considering the fact, that "newbies" won't be
there when EDO's performance and stability will be finally on reasonable level.
Life is harsh.
I knew exactly release will be a fail and fixing it will take at least months
but I've know FD for years, so I knew what to expect.
So, you have a choice:
do more salty rants, then "rage quit" because "you have been scammed"
or
chill out and get patient, what is the only way to handle FD and ED without going berserk on them.

Constructive criticism is one thing. Constant doommongering and well actively trying to damage whole brand is other thing. When we go bottom of it, companies are money making machines, and if some product line gets it reputation damaged beyound repair, such products get discontinued. Everybody would be happy at that point?
... and if you do this (which is the exact thing I am doing too) expect the cries of "White Knight", "Shill", "Apologist" and a few other slurs on your character as anyone having fun in the game has something wrong with their attitude?
Odyssey is in a bad place currently - no doubt about that - now it is just wait and see what Frontier can do to change the situation.
What I will do? Well I do give them some time to clear up this mess. Say half year later we most likely have most of current issues repaired. And have decent DLC.
As has happened with every release they've every done. And yet there's always some who seem to think every previous release was fine and they just messed up this one. Time to ask: who are they white knights - those that think fdev never messed up before now?

I don't hate Frontier and don't consider them to be my enemies, so I don't see why I should do anything against them.

On the other hand I am playing the game since 2014 and the Odyssey release pretty much went as I expected based on my previous experience with their updates. Actually Odyssey is one of the best updates (in terms of stability and content) they've released so far.
It's quite pointless anyway, because a review score of 32% on steam already makes sure that everyone who buys it will know what to expect.

You are forgetting once again that the problem is not just here on the forum. Who will I have in 3 months to manage the 40 systems on the BGS side? You others who are always positive?

Also OP if they exactly knew about the performance issues and how to fix it they would be not so vague with their roadmap.
"Each of Updates 3 to 5 will be of a similar size to Updates 1 and 2, and contain fixes and enhancements to the overall Odyssey player experience, including incremental performance issues for specific circumstances and/or system configurations."
How would you adress the main problem (performance issues) of the release in their situation, when the solution is not clear yet? Ok, they could lie to please you and say: Update 4: 20 frames for everyone....is this what you're looking for?

Ok, starting from that, how many times have you not cheated in the last 4 years? don't you remember the delays? the supposed fixes that are still broken?
they have a suggestion forum, there were THOUSANDS of threads in the alpha and they didn't read anything ... and they post a sewrie of fixes that few people have complained about ... and so over and over again, they fail, they put a thread of feedback from the interface, they ignored it, now they published another one so that we can be more specific ... but are they laughing at us or what?
and is that, in addition, listen to the same as always that you have to wait, that everything will be fixed ... lol.
You also don't remember the guy who spent months saying the PWS was working properly? after years of using it well ??

I think people need to take a step back. Endlessly being outraged about something isn’t healthy. If you don’t like the way a game is moving then just stop playing it. Prefer something else? That’s great. Enjoy the game? then that’s great too! But the fact is everyone feels “empowered” by their ability to voice their disatisfaction at any one thing at any given moment to the point it’s just an endless sludge about people wanting WHAT they WANT and it’s stops becoming what the game will be. Everyone has different expectations and I think the outrage comes from people not managing their own expectations. Like with Cyberpunk most of the complaints I hear are people moaning it’s not like GTA but it’s actually an RPG not a free roaming Sandbox like GTA. Same for odyssey the amount of people saying VR is not working in it.. VR was stated as to not work in it from the getgo. I just think the main problem here is the Devs will try to please everyone (because of the vocal outrage) that we end up with a game that doesn’t actually work for anyone.

Same here, they were already on thin ice with me after only playing the game for a year and seeing all the issues with it they could have easily addressed. Now we get this pure unadulterated, shallow little turd called Odyssey, and well my dude that was IT for me with these people. It was the straw that broke the camels back. And all the fans that have been white knighting for these clowns, making all sorts of excuses for clear and evident bad game design, can SHOVE it, like, for real. You are NO different than the foaming at the mouth, lunatic Star Citizen fans to me, and you are proving my point every time you open your damn mouth.
