Ironic, this was literally the ending of the show. With a bit more deus ex machina.
relations with the cylons and humans happened before ....they happened again. that's not new nor is it only found in the end.
what some found off-putting as an explanation was the pre-existing "human/cylon compatible" population already on earth that had no connection to Kobol or any of the existing lore.
Yeah but the whole ending was "and now people and cylons makes babies together because it's God plan, turn into human, and we'll repeat history forever".

The only thing i found off puting was the last season with all it's religious "nonsense".
I actually liked the finale and "All along the watchtower" was a great pick for the cylon melody.

cylons became human like on kobol due to the same process and were kicked off because humanity could not accept them as equals. there was a lot of cross-species action going on then.
cylons lost the ability to have children all by themselves later on.. and that continued as they lived with the "real" humans for the last 50 years or so leading into the current time period of the show. They only regained the ability to have children as they apparently regained some self actualization of their purpose that wasn't entirely self serving

So it was a happy end, after all?
the avatars of "angels" place the blame on god's plan ....though they specifically note that this isn't god as in religion...but an entity that is pulling strings because they are just that advanced... why? who knows.
the players in the show though are unaware of this and religion is fairly ever present in the show with cylons.. much more so than the humans most of the time. so cylons always want to blame god for how things work out ... while the humans tend to attribute things to destiny / fate.
