State of the Game

Sounds horrible. I will just go back to listening to justin bieber, discovers that is more painful than the plant

Anyone know if Fumaroles dropping only one materiel in all classes of fragments is a known bug? or is this by design?
gosh a real question! it would appear it depends on where you are, you can find rock things to pew at, that drop several different materials (did one an hour ago, nickel, carbon, sulphur)... if there are lots of them in one place, expect mono drops of main materials like carbon or iron

If I'm trying to fly from A - B then anything that prevents me from doing that is a timesink. If I want combat I'll go to a CZ, if I want mats I'll go to a USS. If I want to scan a planet if my dedicated exploration ship then just let me fly to the planet. I don't want a 'pilot skill check' every 5th system, whatever the rewards are.

Except you wouldn't just want to fly from A to B. The whole point is what you do between destinations ...more so than the activity you may be doing at a destination most of the time.

Could you bypass such things ? Sure ... environmental barriers (the pilot skill check) would be something the map would indicate are likely or less likely to occur... and economic balance can be made in a way that encourages taking the riskier options vs the easy ones..but the easy ones are still there.

right now players are only concerned about the destinations because that's all that matters and exists in the game of any consequence. That wouldn't be the case in a better, alternate version of the game.

Edit:
That said, I think there SHOULD be systems where 'content' is unavoidable - for example systems under Thargoid attack should have hordes of them pulling you out of supercruise. Systems could have 'astronomical weather' events that mean supercruise is more like the interdiction minigame where you have to actively fly. Then make the rewards for visiting these systems vastly higher (like 5x commodity sell prices).
That, to me, is far better gameplay content than constant, random events happening everywhere.

nobody is suggesting random events.. Such things should all be able to be done procedural and contingent on the BGS and such.

Reports poster for being on-topic in off-topic forum thread

To be fair, the OP has a point... you could have procedurally generated clouds of interstellar cats reducing supercruise visibility and necessitating the introduction of heavy duty windscreen wipers...
But after how many Supercruise jumps would you need to change the wiper blades? Interstellar cats have a little more mass than flies you know.... Especially at n times the speed of light...

true... mass and velocity and all that.... relativistic mass is given by m = γm0, where γ = 1/ √(1 − v2/c2)

Tricky maths, but I calculate that at 5 time light speed, it'll be a) an unhappy cat and b) a helluva windscreen wiper requirement....

this thread is not about being off topic. It's a commentary of the ridiculousness of the state of the game in ways that reflect the level thru the art of cat memes and whatever else deemed appropriate.
But the appropriateness of the post will be scrutinised for anything that could remotely be classed as on-topic. If you want to provide suggestions, there's a thread for that...

We praise Brebus and cat memes here only my friend. Take your heinous discussion about the "State of the game" elsewhere, if you don't mind!!

The ship isn't actually moving at the speed in SC. space is moving around the ship at that effective speed.

Of course that all falls apart if you think about it harder than 5 minutes because Fdev implemented SC as if it was simply your ship moving really fast in-system. But the lore reason tries to attempt to be a legitimate FTL method.

So the cats should hit the ship at the speed the ship was traveling at when entering SC. leaving a nice wet mess everywhere

Wouldn't that make the mass imaginary? If v > c you have the square root of a negative number.

Relativistic cats, now with imaginary mass
