I am out, have fun

Not had any trouble in game at all. Had a passing chat with another player last night it was all very civilised.

It would be nice to have some kind to communication so that you could send out a HELP request if you were getting ambushed. I myself would love to come to another players rescue :)

I'd love that. Being able to pick up a distress call in Supercruise and come charging in to save another commander in trouble would be awesome.

What? This game is nothing like EVE you say?

I'm out! :D

(But seriously, yeah, play solo or join a friendly group. That is, once FD fix the group instancing. ED isn't EVE and I think most people on this forum know this too.)

The mentality of big ship big guns, kill everyone is not the mentality of a normal space age fairing society.
It's the mentality behind pretty much all video games and even competitive sports, without deaths, but with competition nonetheless.

That doesn't make it an "EVE mentality", it's more about you wishing the game was a multiplayer Space Engine.

I logged in just to comment on this Kambalo.

Don't quit the game because of other people - Frontier are trying to design this game for everyone. Try solo mode or follow Philips advice, but don't give up.
I'm aiming to be an explorer as I tried it out during the last beta and found it very enjoyable, it's a very rewarding 'career' in Elite that does not involve just killing players.

The game really does need a general or system wide chat, or perhaps a chat system where channels can be subscribed to - will really help the community respond to piracy and help keep it in check. Though I do think there is a place for it in the lawless regions.
NO general Chat, absolutely no MMO Game should have a general Chat, that is only for Spam and Trolling etc., ruin more the Game than it is helpful for it. A Chat System should match into the Game as good as possible, a general Chat didn't do that in any form. It would ruin the feeling of empty Space and far Distances.

Personally I have never been 'Grieved'.

I suspect the reason for this is that I have never stayed around the core systems. Move about, find better routes less populated.

Yes you do get some idiots hanging around, big ships picking on newb sideys. Only because they can, but if you're not there it wont be you!

Do what I've done...make like 10 jumps down the hot dog, sausage, twinkie...whatever...away from Eranin and what not. Commanders out that way are much more tolerable and infrequent. Plus, Even just a few jumps away from Eranin, trades start to look mighty profitable. I'm turning bookoo credits just checking the commodity market for the Highest supply with the greatest price differential and then utilizing the trade routes function to find who is buying (even if there isn't a direct line from where you are to the buyer). I'm bouncing my way all over the middle of the hot dog, sausage, twinkie whatever thing.

Call me whatever you want, I want to enjoy a game where killing another humans just to make myself feel better is not the way of life,

For those who enjoy EVE mentality and sadly lately they are creeping here by bunches, have at it.

Can I call you a beautiful human being? :)

I like your sentiments, I really do - but bear in mind, at the heart of Elite there has always been an excellent 3D shoot-em-up. You're right though, it can be and is a lot more than that. Looking at some of the replies you've had in this thread hopefully you will feel a bit better about the amount of people that understand and share your sentiments. Peace, brother - unless they attack us first!!!

well as you can see the best idea so far is private groups, and I concur ( also play in guild group ).

Enjoy the games with friends and not the rest of the low life.....

just because you are not in my group dosn't mean you are all low life...

that not what I meant....

ok time to stop digging.

From my own personal experience, I've seen very few hostile players or griefers.

Yes I've been blocked from entering/exiting a station once or twice,

Yes I've had to avoid interdictions on about 1/3 of supercruise journeys, but this includes NPC ships and Port Authorities,

Yes I've investigated an Unidentified Signal Source only to be met by a Viper, or Anaconda in wait,

Yes I've been destroyed by a Pirate, but this was very early on in my play so I've learned from it.

Do any of these encounters detract from my gameplay experience of ED? Nope, no, not on your Nelly :D

There's so much other stuff to be getting on with, that it's kind of just like the average day of a car driver in real life. You get good days and bad days. You get waved through, or pulled over by the police. You meet someone on the road who is determined to kill themselves or others. You just have to deal with it.

no its because griefing is hardly happening in Elite. If at all... its mostly in peoples minds, not in reality.

I don't get it, are we supposed to convince this guy to stay or something? What's the point of this topic? Play solo if you don't like players trying to kill you as rare as that even is.

I've been playing since 2.0 went live and not been attacked once.

I suppose I've been lucky. There are plenty of fun, peaceful groups that PvE only or do trading/ exploring. So hang on in there. I heard there will be pirate bounty penalties imposed against PvP killers when the game goes gold. So PvP killers won't get away with their behaviour.

I don't really get it. The one MMO that gives you the option to play solo offline, solo online, solo whitelist, open, open hardcore and he does not want to play because one of said options has players that do not want to play like him...
