Worse genetics in sandbox than before

What's up with this? Every animal is orange or red stats territory - I play mainly Sandbox and the Stats are ridiculously low. Can we please fix this? Love this game though - the new plants and just the plants in general are brilliant - 💋🌹💐
Thank you for another input. I made an issue in tracker.

Wow, based on the comments maybe the odds were decreased in sandbox. I’m not sure if it’s considered a bug or a flawed design, but either way I think this is just another reason for us to be able to choose the Genetics and color variation of the animals the populate the trade center in sandbox. It’s sandbox, so it makes sense to give us this feature.

When i started to play after the update i noticed that a lot of the animals in the market had a worse genetic, i'm glad i found this thread today, this was driving me crazy.
Here is an example of what i've found in the market today (first time i see an animal in this condition since the day 1 of the game, and btw the one worth 4 mln is better).

+1 to add the feature to let us decide the genes in sandbox.

Nearly all animals from Frontier-Zoo are terrible. I said this long ago (and got lashed for it :p)..

There was a bug with the colours underlying the genes. In trade window they where green, whereas later, when you put the animals ingame and checked them in their habitat, the same genes were yellow (or previously yellow genes were now red). It seems, they killed that bug now. And now you'll see the crappyness of the Frontier-Zoo generated animals at first sight.

P.S: No harm intended. I just wondered why nobody did notice this discrepancy (stats showing green and later yellow/ yellow and later red) before.

i did mention this an another post on this topic

I think the idea is that there should be some incentive to breed your own. I don't usually play sandbox but will probably use it a bit more now there is all the flexible options. I like the challenge of dealing with what comes up on the market. I especially tend to play as a rescue centre taking the ex pets etc. But I can see why having an extra option to either give you 100% only animals or an animal creation tool would be good for those who want perfect animals.

Well, now we've got the 200 capacity animal market, with a new game it is quite easy to get what animal you want:
Just start franchise, buy what animals you wish (perfect, white, whatever), make a new franchise (Edit: be sure to build your new franchise in the biotop you want to place your new special animal zoo!) with about 5 or 6 big quarantines, put your bought animals there. Then start this quarantine-franchise as sandbox, put your animals back in trade center, delete the quarantines and build the zoo of your dreams.

Bit complicated - it would be easier if we could choose in sandbox what animals we wish - but it is not impossible to start for instance an albino rescue center (which would be impossible with sandbox alone).

I'm sorry, but this topic is about sandbox. Although I'd love to have the option to have shared sandbox trade center within sandox games (saves).

He's saying you could get your animals sorted in franchise and then make your franchise zoo a sandbox one but it would mean you couldn't add anymore animals once you converted the file

Yes, it is all about sandbox - because it is sad that I have to think in such a complicated way around miss-using other game-modi, just to build my dream-zoo.
It should be possible with sandbox alone (which it isn't).

You can add all (sandbox-)animals you want after converting. But you have to be sure to have all your desired special animals in your quarantine-zoo, before you convert it, yes.

I get the sentiment, but in Sandbox Mode there doesn't really need to be an incentive. The whole purpose is to maximise creativity without constraint (plenty of evidence for that - the new options make tiger walkthrough habitats possible, so realism/challenge isn't the issue here). IMO giving us the ability to manually decide what genes our Sandbox animals carry is the last big change they need to make to the mode. Either that or, much more simply, make the refresh button work all the time, instead of being dependent on whether or not you adopt any of the four cruddy choices sitting there. If I could spam refresh until something desirible comes up then that would be great, too.

Not sure if the last. I'd guess last would be disabling overcrowding not affecting space but max population.

Is there any effect of overcrowding affecting max population in sandbox? Don't think so. In my experiments I had 1000ds of animals breeding in a very small enclosure.

I would like the "real" refresh-button also very, very much! As it is now, the animal market in sandbox refreshes every 10 minutes the game runs unpaused. It doesn't even refresh on a new start. And if you are building in sandbox, guess how long my game runs unpaused? Nearly never at all. So I get no refresh on these crappy animals either than buying and selling them, which steals a lot of my lifespan, stresses my mouse and mousehand and makes me sometimes hate this game so much - what is rather sad, because in all other aspects it is my favorite game of all times (until now and in it's class of simulation games).

Animals are unhappy, if there's too many of them in one enclosure. I was hoping disabling overcrowding will disable this one, not the space requirements. So I just hope that one day..

Animals are always happy in sandbox, if you want it. You just have to disable animal wellfare in the options (that's not even a new option).
