In my opinion, many of the systems in Odyssey have been designed for console controllers. The UI and the on-foot menu systems of Odyssey seem to have been deliberately designed for consoles. Hell, the graphics were downgraded for PC when the Xbox version came out. I can guarantee Odyssey is going to get a massive graphical downgrade when it's released on Xbox and PS4 just so it runs at 30 fps 920P or some crappy resolution like that.
I'm not sure why FDev would put so much effort into the "consolification" of the game's systems and graphics if they were killing the console versions. If anything, I feel like ED has continued to migrate more towards the console market than anything else, which seems insane given the platform demographics of this game. But for some reason, FDev seems hell-bent on turning ED into a massive console success. I'm guessing they look at EA, Ubisoft, and DICE as examples of the console market's potential for revenues and are desperately trying to figure out that market at all costs, especially at the expense of their largest platform.
ED is no longer a PC game ported to consoles... no... this is a console game being ported to PC. Why do you think Odyssey was released to PC six months before consoles in such a disastrous state? PC players are just beta testers here to work out all the kinks and provide telemetry for the console version's perfection. PC is just part of the QA team now, not part of the player base. The real release of Odyssey is going to be the console release. So, don't despair console players, you'll get a well-polished, perfectly playable version of Odyssey at the end of the year.
