Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 5

Audio oddity in FSS. When hovering over an object and I've tuned into it, its sounds are only coming through the left side of my headphones, unless I fully zoom into it, when it sounds as it should through both sides.

Increased the chance of finding rare materials at fumaroles.
Nice
Can confirm and worse in VR as some of them show in one eye only - please someone confirm this isn't staying like this until console release
Fixed the "maintain horizon" option for SRVs not working in VR.
Not needed anymore, learned to cope with it broken :)
DSS is fixed (I tested just now). Freecam is also reportedly fixed, but I haven't tested that.
Yep, both working for me (and the first person hack still works)

BUT... Leaving the station I got really bad judders, like the first time since buying Odyssey (2080 Super, SSD, 16GBs, i7 something good) - but I did find a grade 3 Artemis suit so yay for me... I also noticed, in the FSS some blue lines boxed around me, never saw them before, but still no orbit lines like the non VR people get?

I only wish i could be in that universe where fps are above 60, all missions are working, Smear Capaigns everywhere... and to write all this from my ship interior.... dang it!
I have 2000+ hours in this game. I bought it to see the galaxy from a spaceship in VR. I don't like shooting scientists in the face. The Odyssey release was mostly unplayable to me, even though I tried to live with the 15-40 fps, because I really love those new sunsets.

Now the game breaking VR bugs are fixed, and I have decent framerates, so I'm a happy camper. Especially because the only VR bug that has been mentioned was the scanner, and this morning the message was that it didn't make it. Well it did, like the camera being unlocked (I use it as a scout drone). Yesterday I had to go low on all LODs to avoid upsampling and still meh, but today I get more than 45 fps where I used to get 16. This, with rough settings low to ultra. Room for improvement from my side now :alien:

Fixed the helmet state being set incorrectly on AI that were spawned by a different client (Some AI were basically seen without helmets when they should have had them).
Now everyone indoors (at the bar, no less) in the first settlement I (in solo mode) entered are wearing helmets...

I look forward to seeing if my 3070ti is still brought to its knees in a station, that's the test for 'graphical improvements' for me.

I see many players complaining about the FPS drop and stutter on settlements.

I had that issue to. But I switched of the AMDFidelity CAS thingamajik on the graphics options and it reverted to the old performance.

If you using an Nvidia card, do it now!

SWITCH IT OFF!!!

Thank me later :)

What headset do you have? I didn't see the orbit lines until I got the G2, but I definitely see them now as I use those to find the planets (I follow the main system plane). Assuming they are the lines you mean. :)

It appears that interstellar factors are completely broken now. It's bad enough that the way they were changed already added tons of wasted time to the game but now WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?

So now every little incidental thing means going to jail, then taking a taxi back to your ship before you can do anything at all? Because there wasn't enough timesink crap going on?
Have you tryed relog to main menu. And check if it shows up when you log back?
It use to be like that with fines. They dont show up until you relog.

Isn't that the tab for claiming bounty vouchers? What does going to jail have to do with that?

you're supposed to set your supersampling lower than normal and use the amdfidelity to upsample back to what you are used to if you want to retain the same "quality" as before but gain performance. If you keep your supersampling how you normally have it (and resolution) and have amd fidelity on, then you are seeing better than normal quality (or should be) ...and so will be taking a perf hit from normal.

having it on by default without walking the user thru how to adjust their resolution/supersampling to compensate (either if they want better performance, or better quality ) is a mistake as most will probably see this new feature as a negative since they're already suffering from poor perfomance and can't bear any more (which will be what users find happening by default).

After playing for a while with the new update I can say this - the space looks amazing and most of the spaceship activities work fine. But everything to do with on foot is still bad and unoptimized. So just stick to space and don't disembark until console release

OK how does it work.

I used to have supersampling at 1.0

So now if I switch on the AMD CAS, what should I be setting the supersampler at?

Trying some options now.

Hp reverb g2 powered by a paltry 2060rtx i7 3 wotever jeez. Anyways horizons ran at 90% slider in steam rendering (optimal is 54% where the notch is so l was well over) motion smoothing and ss booster thing.
Got 30 fps anywhere and looked OK AA on and anisotropic on x4 as l recall. Ran lovely.
Now it's on 40% ss at .75 hmd at 1.0 as always and it's still pants....when I'm actually logging in and not being kicked by the server.
So not much performance boost here. Guess I gotta go over settings. I've already switched off the amd thing.
So frustrating sometimes.!!

Anyone else having issues with mouse in Oddity now? It seems like the game is doing something weird and not accepting mouse clicks consistently and with occasional glitches in the pointer behaviour too. (I have tried the different mouse cursor options.)
