State of the Game

you've adopted and modified to fit your own tastes / wants / needs something from someone else (or in this case, some other culture)
You say this like it's a bad thing.... where I live, people from different cultures freely interact and partake in each other's traditions. Or do you mean like they're parodying or making fun of the culture their food is from?

it's not bad. but the cultures you're merging will tend to be offended if you start suggesting that you've experienced whatever theirs is thru that merged version.

Like if i goto a chinese person who lives around me and go... "Oh ...I love chinese.. i goto panda express all the time" They will immediately hate everything about me. and rightly so.

That's why you dont have that conversation. you just go "Oh, i dont really eat chinese" if it comes up with anyone who is actually chinese.

Or more likely in america, anyone who is eastern asian and you can't tell what country they may be from.

Big Brother is watching this thread. You'll soon have the thought police along to let you know that it is not okay to borrow from another culture, especially if that culture is not predominantly white European in origin, or Jewish. It's especially not acceptable if you say "yeah, but I have a friend who is [insert culture you are borrowing from]" Visiting is fine, taking home is a no-no!

buffalo sauce is not some ancient recipe open to interpretation.

it's a modern invention. You dont have to care about the brand or anything when buying it. Buffalo Sauce should taste the same regardless.

now, if you are modifying it... well. that's not really buffalo sauce anymore. The most common is to add bleu cheese to mild it up for wusses who can't handle spicy foods.
