Animal you would throw under the bus

The idear is simple. What animal ingame would you delete in a heartbeat for a similar animal that you would prefer much more.
My pick is the Thompson Gazelle, just because its so boring.
Dont get me wrong, they are a pretty animal and its an theoretically alright inclusion to the game, but of all the antelopes in the game its the most generic and boring choice imo.
It just feels like they dont really have a niche and just being one of a bunch of cooler looking savannah antelopes just doesnt make the cut for me.
The fact that it is a deluxe edition animal just rubs more salt into that wound.

It is alright in mixed enclosures, but i would much rather have something else that can stand on its own and be special and exciting.
My choices for a replacement would be for an african antelope the beautiful and giant greater kudu or the bontebok with its unique colors and head shape.

A third option would have been the indian blackbuck, which besides having a rather unique looking shape, colors and horns also are from asia, fulfilling a niche so strong the thompsons gazelle couldnt even dream of

Interesting idea for a thread. I'd probably do the Thompson's gazelle as well. I prefer the springbok anyway. In its place, I'm not sure what I'd put in - probably the dama/addra gazelle.

I'd happily swap the Bengal tiger for a Sumatran tiger, and the Aldabra tortoise for a leopard tortoise as well.

Thompson's Gazelle?! But they're like the absolute quintessential gazelle! Practically a necessity!

I'd go with Himalayan Brown Bear myself... even among Brown Bear subspecies alone there's better options, like the Syrian Brown Bear or Tibetan Blue Bear.

Also the Orangutan... not that I don't love them, but if you can't make them right, why bother?

If the replacement animal has to be very similar, my choice would be replacing the Himalayan brown bear with the Syrian brown bear - it looks more different to the grizzly (with its pale coat), is still a threatened Asiatic brown bear subspecies and is the second most commonly kept brown bear subspecies in European zoos. The issue with the two current brown bear subspecies is that both are extremely rare in European zoos (only 4 individual grizzlies and 8 individual Himalayan brown), so neither feels particularly realistic.

Second and third choices would be replacing the Aldabra giant tortoise with the African spurred tortoise and Baird's tapir with the lowland tapir (both based on how abundant they are in both smaller and larger zoos).

It's interesting how that differs between regions. In the southern hemisphere springboks are the go-to small antelope for zoos, whereas in the northern hemisphere it seems like Thompson's gazelles are the more abundant choice.

Edit: Normally I would also say to change the Himalayan brown bear, but recently they've grown on me, so I might change it up and swap out the grizzly for the Eurasian brown bear.

Himalayan Brown Bear for a Syrian Brown Bear. The SBB is common in zoos, and it would give us a grassland/scrub bear as opposed to another cold climate bear like the Grizzly or Eurasian BB.

I know I've more than had my fill of African antelopes, but rather than the gazelle, because I actually like gazelles, I choose the springbok. It's the epitome of generic looking, even within the entirety of all of the other antelopes in the game.

A big one for me is the dhole. I understand they were trying to pad the SEA pack with easier animals. But I'd replace the dhole with the muntjac, gaur, or some other Southeast Asian ungulate. We had enough animals from order Carnivora in that pack already, and the others were all much better.

Agree with the springbok and brown bear. I'd love to see the giant eland, greater kudu, dikdik, duiker, or gerenuk. And just using the Eurasian brown bear probably would've made more sense than Himalayan, though I'd really like to see the kodiak, sloth, or Andean bear. Would've replaced the Arctic wolf with an Arctic fox.

Animals I'd replace, eh?

Ok, springbok with Thompson's gazelle, then replace that empty spot with something like the addax or scimitar horned oryx.

Replace HBB with generic American black bear (at least it won't be the same and is found from Canada to Mexico), and replace grizzly bear with generic brown bear (to have American and Eurasian represented).

Replace llama with the guanaco (and this is coming from me, who loves llamas)

That's all I can think of

Huh, I would do exactly the same thing!

And i would switch one of the giant tortoises with the african spurred tortoise.

Giant Otter for Asian Small Clawed Otter. Right away.
Prob. Monkey for a Gibbon (not similar, but same region if I'm correct)
The funky looking turkey bird (tm Poisonblade, I really forgot the name of thebird just now) for an Emu.
Capuchin monkey for a squirrel monkey
Timber Wolf for something less generic.
Himalayan Bronw Bear for Sloth Bear (if that counts, if not I am perfectly fine changing the sun bear with the Sloth bear, I'm sorry)

I'd also trade the Baird's Tapir for a South american Tapir. Much more unique in look, and actually represents south america, as opposed to the Baird's which is only found in central america.

Right now the game wants you to put the tapirs snd anteaters together, but the anteaters don't even share distribution with the Baird's.
