Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

welcome citizen commander!

you have found the perfect place to have your intelligence questioned for playing SC, be told you are supporting a criminal organization if you buy into SC, and told that "fun" doesn't matter when you play video games!

enjoy your stay!
Hey, we didn't start this "fun" thing though: I remember the era when we were told we're not supposed to have fun during an alpha ;)

star citizen, where you can try and teach miners not to sit in their ships at cru-l1, its way too close to grim hex. the 3% for quantanium isnt worth it.

but if you are mean and try and teach miners this lesson. well, you are gonna get bounty hunters after you. true, there might be someone at the wrong place and wrong time that you get to murder. however you might get to take out 2 of the 3 of them before you go to prison. and that 2nd kill, lol.

Well i'm chalking up my last session as a learning experience ;)

Tried to do the Bounty Hunting licence mission, and got blown up by the guy's wingmate who seemed invulnerable / i wasnt hitting: but did a lot of Quantum Travel and first combat, so useful.
Then i took a biowaste collection mission, more QT and planetary landings. Wasn't sure how to store the cargo containers - i thought the Aurora had 3 slots, but if it's the thing underneath couldnt see how to load them? Just chucked them onto the bunk and behind the pilot's seat.
Another collection site gave me a trespass warning, and given i was doing them a job, tried to find a landing clearance or something, but nope they gave me a fine, so i legged it before bullets started flying.

Humped my "valuable" cargo back Everus Harbour, but couldnt see where to sell them. Going back to my ship and... it's not there  them some guy swoops in with a huge ship onto my pad, so i'm guessing its blown up. I took a peek up his landing ramp, but he closed the door (maybe worried i'd half inch it, and to be fair the thought was crossing my mind).
Tried to sell him my last biowaste i was still carrying, when i dropped it to check my ship status an NPC picked it up - so no money for that either!

So money is going backwards, and not earnt a penny. Better find some easier missions, or are there on-foot combat missions? Might be easier to cheese the AI than in ships.

To start, the easiest and safier missions are the low pay bounty hunting and the investigate missions (not in cave).
To fight a ship, use 'T' to target and make sure you are in gimball mode ('G' key to a dotted circle).

Also missions change when you change planets.

If you want some help to understand how the game work, just ask in chat or get a player guide on the CIG website.

So, he who shall not be named has started a rumour that CR has lost control of CIG. That someone else is now in control and that it will be announced in the next quarter (after Citizen con?).

Considering the source, i'm not going to attach any credence to the rumour.

However, if true, this could be the best news for SC/SQ42 in a long time. It could mean someone will be in charge who knows how to get an MVP release done. And with CR out of the picture, some of my unwillingness to give CIG money would go out of the way, as long as it was a proper change in management, basically a Freelancer 2, with CR getting "special thanks" in the credits.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but it might tie in with other recent events, such as CR's announced move to England to help finish SQ42 in 2022. He may have been given instructions to go do that and get out of the way of SC's development. Basically orders to get SQ42 shipped by a certain deadline.

In unrelated news, and for fans of Doom Patrol, you might be interested in hearing Chris and Sandi's daughter, Skye, has an important role in Doom Patrol season 4. At least if CR is England he won't be around to interfere with that!
We can only hope. :)

I've been thinking about getting Star Citizen. I went on the SC Forums, but was told that you have to pay to join in. I then went on Reddit to get to know some 'Citizens', only to be greeted, upon posting with this message: 'YOUR POST MUST CONTAIN POST FLAIR'. Then I was prompted (felt like frog marched) to link the post to my 'Twitter' account. I declined. The idea of going there [Twitter], just to have someone waiting in the aisles for you to put a foot wrong in their eyes and banish your life and future prospects just so they can do a virtuous 'High Five', just fills me with nausea.

So I came here instead, to say, 'Hi Citizens'.

If you see someone flying a ship badly, just know... I've got your back.
Welcome :)

Yeah, he’s tweeted ‘Sources close to the project say WOLF!' way too many times to have any weight now. But it’s always been a possible scenario…

IP / assets etc get sold on, some dangling CIG entity gets left with the legal obligations (but no capital, and shielded by the 'tried and failed' ToS), new owner delivers an MVP version of SC…

Who knows ¯\(ツ)/¯

There is, at minimum, something suss about the 'proof of life' signalling coming from Chris & Sandi at the moment. Guess we’ll find out why eventually ;)

Star Citizen was on my radar since Chris Roberts posted his pitch. I just decided he had enough dough, and David Braben did not.
But since Kate's been making content about it, I've taken some time to study up on it's progress even though I'm only interested in SQ42.
And I can understand the allure of being able to place a box on your bunk bed, in your captain's quarters.

Now the "cultist" label, which comes from /r/starcitizen_refunds to slap on fans of Star Citizen, I take with a grain of salt...

Another fresh opinion about SC from a long term ED player
"Long time ED player/SC doubter swallows humble pie" "with a heavy heart that I have come to see the error of my ways" "being wholly dismissive of Star Citizen for the past 6 years" "I am happy to hold my hands up" "what it wants to deliver (Hallelujia!)" "the light poured in, I stepped down onto the surface and I had actual goosebumps irl"

But that post on the official Star Citizen subreddit containing the above exact quotes... it reads to me as someone who's come to see his heretical ways and has walked into the Temple to publicly wash themselves of their sins in front of the true believers, ready to embrace the one true faith - and expressing in detail the moment he was touched by the grace of God.
Only an induction ritual is missing here.

Yeah, you can't post on CIG's forums unless you give CIG money first.

Regarding reddit flairs, yeah, some subs just like you to flair your threads. But not much point posting on the reddit sub unless you first say 10 Hail Roberts, upload a picture of a sunset or your ship, and tell everyone how much you've spent. And for heaven's sake, don't say anything critical or you'll be called a troll and hater.

So, here's as good a place as any to discuss SC, as long as you don't start saying stupid stuff like "never been done before", making excuses for every bug in SC, making predictions of how wonderful everything is going to be in the next patch or two, or start fawning over CIG.

Mole is our resident middle of the road guy, you can pretty much trust whatever he says to be a fairly unbiased take on things.

We have a lot of skeptics like myself here, and we will tell you, at length, in great detail, what we think is wrong with the project, if you give us the opportunity :D

And we have one or two who are at the other end of the scale, who will tell you that any problems you have are your fault and anyway, its your fault for not installing it on a SSD (even if you have). :p
Amongst the regular denizen of SC on here, I'd count @sovapid and @Intrepid3D amongst the strictly middle of the road guys...more so than me in a lot of cases. I can't recall either of them being persistently banished from Spectrum

[Deleted by Nightrider-CiG] is permanently etched into my bio over there...

Ahh...but did he buy an Idris? No washing of feet or other bodily parts in the temple of Chris until he has
