I am out, have fun

I used to be one of "those people" that lived off killing other people in EVE (merc, not pirate, but nvm) and I mostly play ED solo now. I doubt I'll be pirating or do much PvP except defend myself whenever the servers can be trusted to play multiplayer. Solo is nice for getting some cash for better gear until then. When you sink all you own into a trade run, being pirated and killed due to lag and what's not isn't very enticing right now, hence Solo. But I fear that Frontier is a bit naive when they expect most pirates to do anything but blow people up. The people that held people up and didn't blow them up in EVE can be counted on one hand, I expect the same attitude to happen here as well.
I see it's a bit easier to get away in ED, but I expect pirates to complain about interdictions not being easy enough and that they'll change that. I hope to be proven wrong, though.

I agree with most of what you say except, in EVE when you trashed a ship there would be loot left behind sometimes worth millions, but in ED if you blow up a ship there is no loot, so for a Pirate to make Creds, traders have to expect to be allowed to escape if they drop some loot or they will fight/run. If a pirate kills all his victims he will make life harder for other pirates and so I would expect them to be as eager for him to be taken out as the traders were.

BTW So far Piracy is the one thing I have not tried, having a go at mining atm.

I'm loving the fact that in spite of frontier catering to everything some people ask for, it's never actually enough, and these people demand the game must be made easier and friendlier for them.

This is a game with combat in it. It always has been. You knew that coming in. If you were looking for a pacifist utopia, this was never it.
It's also a game where you have many options to avoid fighting other players. You can be 100% certain that you will never ever have to fight a human player if you so wish.
If you want to get together with people who only want to PvE you can do that. If you want to play with a bunch of people who want to explore the galaxy, you can do that.
You can have all the dynamic elements of the online universe while never seeing another player if you so wish.
You can even play online but only ever encounter other like minded players if you so wish.

If you look at this game and all you can see is people wanting to kill each other then honestly, you are seeing what you're looking for not what's really there.

I agree with a lot of what the OP said.

I'll admit I've seen people playing on YouTube and all they do is attack the first thing they see, don't even scan it to check it's wanted status and I'll admit I don't understand that kind of player and without wanting to offend anyone I wonder if this is really the game for that type of person.

Yes this is a game with combat like many others out there nothing new there I have played utopia they have pvp there too in certain areas to be honest it was boring
yes you do have options one main one single play which is fine with me and its nice to have a break from humans
I am not sure how that system works getting together with other people to PVE this could well be worth waiting to see how it evolves + from me
I don't believe everyone wants to kill each other there would be no point talking here in the first place - PVP is real ok fair enough like many other 100s of games ok I will judge for myself how bad it gets or not

This thread is so entertaining. I am waiting for the poll to remove guns from the game.

I think some rage is because the npcs kick your butt too now.

good hear your being entertained by something
its true the NPCs are harder in fact they could even be harder than humans? but that's another thread

Obvious troll is obvious.

Also: Requesting that whiney ragequitter's threads get deleted without warning. They are pathetic.

I agree with this.

That the OP hasn't come back to say something like "OK, I'll give the PvE group a go" or "I've tried that and it still isn't what I thought it was going to be" speaks volumes.

Since 3 started with player interdictions I have been trying to get interdicted but it's always a cop. Could it be because I'm in a rather nicely outfitted cobra?

Anyway, I've been playing since the very end of beta 1, and I've only encountered hostile players a couple of times, and in war zones. And wow those were awesome fights, taught me just how different human players are from those dumb NPCs regardless of the dreaded NPC accuracy. In fact I think one of my only fair losses came from a highly skilled human pilot. All other ship deaths have been from collisions and other deaths that would have been preventable had I been more careful. That said, I only play open about half of the time, as the networking issues can kill the experience.

No offence to the OP but they are saying basically, "I don't like that this unfinished, incomplete, with much more planned and not there is not meeting my -I want a full game with all the bells and whistles- expectations, so I'm gonna leave."

You paid for a game already. you got a game that wasn't finish yet (and they did say so) and saying you want to quit. Yet, you already own the game, and can pick it up at anytime AFTER it get's released and then see what kind of game it is rather than giving up before it is actually started.

This only speaks of a player with no patience and too much money to waste. I have 0 sympathy for them.

OP doesn't like guns in a dystopian vision of the future where ultracapitalism, piracy, slavery and profiteering are rampant? This is no Star Trek, and even they end up using their guns... a lot.

Going solo won't help with that particular issue. ;) Finished or not, ED is all about exploring strange new worlds, s̶e̶e̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ blowing up new life and new civilizations and boldly going where no one has gone before.

Huh. Basically we're the real Klingons. No. We're the unholy crossbreed of Klingons and Ferengi!

I dont think it was guns really, *I* dont like trying to kill stuff either

So don't kill stuff. You can literally spend years doing nothing but cataloguing star systems. While the rest of us are getting rich by blowing up aliens. :p

But seriously, I don't see a problem. A hardcore virtual pacifist (I'm the real life kind, so I don't pay attention to what pixels I explode) can rank up to Elite without ever doing a single aggressive act. Simply do peaceful stuff. Explore, trade, haul space junk across interstellar distances. Bind your primary trigger to blink your headlights or something. Voila, no guns, no problem.

Just don't expect everyone else to be nice with their big huge plasma cannons. Like in real life, actually. Immersive. ;)

I really don't mind killing stuff NPC stuff just not really into Killing Human beings I would rather work along side other fellow commanders - if humans want to kill me though then its best to band together and wipe them out xd

Dont think I am going to play this game anymore, the way the forums are evolving I am afraid ED this game may become EVE Online 2.

It won't because in Elite we directly control the movement of our ships in the cockpit and the setting is the whole Milky Way galaxy. You're being upset about nothing.

kill everyone is not the mentality of a normal space age fairing society.

You're kind of ignorant to think that Eve's main theme is killing everyone. A big aspect of that game is the player driven economy. Many players play together in guilds (corporations). Construction and Destruction (Life and Death) is all part of the Circle of Life.

Destruction (of life and ships) isn't fun for many people and this is where medical technology comes in.

Dont we have enough killing among ourselves already, why make a game/space simulation into another massacre of the human race? Why cant we have a game of exploration, discovery, establishing relations with other races, learning new ways, new scientific discoveries, learning about other civilizations and their history, why every single game has to turn into a PVP kill all way of life?

You shouldn't stereotype this game as if PVP is the only thing that players can do. Also why isn't there incubators (ectogenesis) and cloning in Elite Dangerous which should be present by the year 3300.

As others have said, the game is nothing like the forums. If you're interested in Elite as a game of exploration and discoveries, that's all there for you and the chances of running into any PvPers while doing it is negligible.

As a well as the Mobius PvE private group, there's the First Great Expedition who are all about exploration and discovery (and an insane plan to get to the centre of the galaxy, but don't let that worry you). You'd be more than welcome to join us, and I know the Mobius group will welcome you with open arms too.

EVE is a great game. I don't even think this game could aspire to be as great as EVE. Let the game develop into it's own thing. If you don't like the game, don't play it. Seems simple enough.
