Camera Suite Improvements: Update Notes

@sallymorganmoore Since you are surprised by this suggestion, I wonder how many threads in the suggestions forum you guys really read.
This suggestion had been brought up many times.
And it is an important demand.

Amidst 100s of many many important demands from 100s of many many other Commanders. We're doing our best to try and keep up.
Also I absolutely can't claim to have read every thread in this enormous forum but again...doing the best possible right now.

"The cameras are not the priority, we do not move forward, we go back ..."
It's difficult to see how improving something is going back in this instance. Can't say the camera would be my top priority, but any improvement in the game is good in my book.
The way FDev seem to go about things, is they're just working on everything. When something is ok to release (I'd like to say good, but since so much tweaking is involved, ok is barely it) they release it. This camera update is a good example. But another potential example would be if they happened to finish developing ship interiors tomorrow, they'd announce a new expansion. But, all the while, it's all in progress...no priorities other than it's all priority.

@sallymorganmoore You be forgiven. Once for being such a night owl. And because you also dont forget your beloved VR community. (makes the Obiwan hand weaving)

In the instance of the Camera Suite (for Odyssey because it was inconsistent with Horizons in some ways), the desire for us to fix this from the community was deafening - and all for valid reasons, so it made the priority list with tweaks that were possible within the update 6 release window.
Other issues in the priority list may need more time than the window allows but that doesn't mean to say they're not being worked on until they're good and ready for a future update release window.

As you'll see when we get to update 6, there are other really poignant issues and quality of life tweaks that have been heavily requested previously, addressed.

It's probably the fact I've made a bit of a big deal out of sharing more of a breakdown of how the Camera Suite has been addressed in like a "spotlight", which might have drawn focus away from the fact other really meaty issues and requests have been tackled and that's causing people to think we have our priorities skewed.

I dunno...late night thoughts anyway. I should sleep now, ha.

No it's def not your fault Sally.. please don't think like that and question yourself, You are doing great work and the extra info is very much the type of thing we are crying out for!

Sigh, I really wish than “Darken space” series by DravenDarken is again a live project (sadly he removed his serie from YouTube due rules change some time ago). With possibilities of this updated camera in Odyssey environment I have no doubt he could make something really awesome.

Well, here’s some news you may like:

1) DarkenSpace season 1 is coming back to YouTube in the fall. I’ve spent the last six weeks or so going back through the older episodes and updating/replacing the parts of the soundtrack that weren’t up to my current standards, and am about halfway through the list of updates now. And I met with legal counsel to discuss my concerns with the FTC guidance and the changes in that guidance in the past year, and now feel I am no longer in any jeopardy if I repost this stuff.

2) I have scripts in the works for a DarkenSpace season 2, and Charles Hubbell has agreed to reprise his lead role in the series. Now everything depends upon whether EDO pulls its act together well enough for me to be able to capture quality video from it. This news about the camera suite is a very big and necessary step in that direction, but I’m still waiting to see what happens with the performance, lighting and planet textures before I make the final commitment to go ahead with production of new episodes.

Assuming I do decide to proceed (and I want to believe that’s more likely than not … I’m pulling for FD here!), the good news is that I am now retired from my day job and will be able to pour far more time into such a series than I could when I did the original season. Add to that: much improved studio gear, more experience composing for video, and an RTX 3070 in my gaming computer, and you might rightly guess that I’m excited about the prospect of doing this again, and better than ever. Stay tuned …
